1. To manage the format of bibliographic references, one opens Tool ==> Utilities ==> Program Settings ==> General

2. The dropdown menu offers 17 choices both publication styles and software bibliographic tools style.

3. An example is the American Sociological Association format.

4. If I change to the APA Style (6th ed.) the format of the citation shown in the information panel of the library will change. One does not need to close or reopen anything.

5. An example of a software format is BibTeX. As defined by Wikipedia:

"BibTeX is reference management software for formatting lists of references. The BibTeX tool is typically used together with the LaTeX document preparation system. Within the typesetting system, its name is styled as {\mathrm{B{\scriptstyle{IB}} \! T\!_{\displaystyle E} \! X}}. The name is a portmanteau of the abbreviation of "bibliography" and TeX.

BibTeX makes it easy to cite sources in a consistent manner, by separating bibliographic information from the presentation of this information, similarly to the separation of content and presentation/style supported by LaTeX itself."

6. An alternative reference software format is BiblX. This is used by EndNote described by Wikipedia as:

"EndNote is a commercial reference management software package, used to manage bibliographies and references when writing essays and articles. It is produced by Thomson Reuters."

The Wikipedia article gives a summary of the legal dispute between EndNote and Zotero that resulted in their not playing well together.

7. The final software oriented format is RIS, a standardized reference system described by Wikipedia as:

"RIS is a standardized tag format developed by Research Information Systems, Incorporated (the format name refers to the company) to enable citation programs to exchange data. It is supported by a number of reference managers. Many digital libraries, like IEEE Xplore, Scopus, the ACM Portal, Scopemed, ScienceDirect, and SpringerLink, can export citations in this form"

8. But what if I use Zotero? Again from Wikipedia:

"Zotero users can generate citations and bibliographies through word processor plugins, or directly in Zotero, using Citation Style Language styles. The house styles of most academic journals are available in Zotero, and the bibliography can be reformatted with a few clicks. Zotero also allows users to create their own customized citation styles.

Zotero can import and export citations from/to many formats, including Wikipedia Citation Templates, BibTeX, BibLateX, RefWorks, MODS, COinS, Citation Style Language/JSON, refer/BibIX, RIS, TEI, several flavours of RDF, Evernote, EndNote."

I bolded the three software formats supported by Logos.

9. Why haven't I discussed the house styles of the academic journals of relevance to Logos users? Because to the best of my knowledge, Logos does not have these very specific styles, only the more broadly used academic standards. As journal standards also include abbreviation requirements for Books of the Bible and related texts, there is little advantage to adding these additional nuances.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Hi MJ. Smith thanks for sharing this helpful post for citation. But I read closely and think it's a very long task to make citation I use another tool for making ama format citation. This tool is very easy and smooth for making every citation style in every format. You just need to fill some your requirements like author name, published year and etc. The generator gives an accurate citation in minutes. I hope they help you.
