BUG: Windows 7 Taskbar behavior
Not a big deal, but with Windows 7 about to be released, I have a bug with Windows 7 RC7100 (64bit). When I pin Logos 4 to my taskbar, and then open Logos 4, it should occupy the same spot in the taskbar as the "pinned icon." You can see that in the two screen shots. Logos 4 clearly takes two "spots" - one for the pin, and one for the running program. Notice the difference with MS Word's Behavior and Adobe Acrobat's behavior. In the first screenshot, neither Word nor Acrobat is running (one spot each). In the second, both are running (still one spot each, now showing the running document).
If it makes you feel any better the only other program that gives me this behavior is iTunes 9.

If you right click on the tab of Logos 4 that's open and pin *it* to the task bar, you can open it from there and it will work fine.
It's a decent work around, but I agree, it shouldn't be necessary.

Mike,
This is very funny to me, but your "workaround" worked for iTunes 9 also!

Funny the only other program that did that for me was OpenOffice.org, and guess what? The workaround doesn't work for that one.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

I can't explain the iTunes one but for Logos it's because there are two executables.
There's some sort of bootstrapper %installdir%/Logos4/Logos4.exe which is what your shortcuts point to; and then there's the actual program %installdir%/Logos4/System/Logos4.exe
There's no visible difference between just loading the main executable which is what this workaround achieves, but there could be something the bootstrapper does in the background which you're missing if you do that? Who knows... [^o)]

Also, Did you pin "openoffice.org writer" to the task bar or just the "openoffice.org"
The reason I ask is because "openoffice.org writer" on the latest version works fine.
Before the update I had "openoffice.org" pinned to the taskbar and it didn't work.0 -

The first exe displays the splash screen and performs house-keeping tasks. Please don't create a shortcut directly to (or pin) the second exe; we'll try to fix the pinning bug in Beta 3.

Good call Greg,
I have the latest update (OOo 3.1.1 / OOO310m19 Build 9420) but I was using Openoffice.org rather than writer.
When I pin writer, it
does work!still doesn't workSarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Bradley,
Has the taskbar pin bug been fixed? If so, what is the exe that we should be pinning?

This should be fixed in Beta 5. (Unless you get the error tcblack posted, which might indicate that it didn't install properly.) Once Beta 5 is installed, unpin any Logos 4 icon you've already pinned; you can then right-click & pin the desktop shortcut, or type "Logos" in to the Start menu, right-click the result that is displayed, and pin it to the taskbar.
Let us know if that doesn't work for you.

Even with the error Bradley, the fix appears to have worked. At least the newly pinned Icon is the right one.
