Back button

I apologize for starting a new thread on a topic I had begun before (but I can't find that post). Anyway, my original post was a question as to how to return to a previews view. For instance, when I do a search, and I click on an item, this takes me to a different spot and then I don't know how to return to my first spot. Someone suggested I hit the BACK BUTTON. Well, that is one of the problems, I have no idea where that button is.

Let me give an example from today. I was reading a commentary by Wade on Isaiah. He uses the word FORENSIC. So I double-click on forensic and it takes me to Merriam Webster where it confirms my suspicion that the word is somewhat related to legal matters. But now I don't know how to get back to Wade. There are buttons under Merriam Webster, but these simply take me to the next or previous word in the dictionary. Is there a global back button somewhere that takes me to where I was before?

I converted a screenshot into a jpg file but I don't know how to enclose it here. I pressed OPTIONS and it shows the file under file attachment but does not show it under preview.

My beta just crashed so I can't give a screen shot. look on the resource bar where the circle i for the information panel is at the far right. To the left of it may be a downward pointing arrow head. To the left of that are the forward and back navigation arrows. If there is no forward history or back history they are very light. They become more visible when there is active history to navigate.

Hi M.J. Indeed. I see the arrow down (panel history) as well as the arrows left and right that are very transparent or show up. I used those arrows, but those only work in terms of history within that resource. My problem is that I was in a different resource (in this case WADE on Isaiah) and it took me to the M Webster. Ah, I also had trouble adding my screenshot (good to know it was not just me or that I was doing something wrong).

Bottom line question. When I am taken to a different resource, how do I return to the original one?

So I just clicked on the word HORTATORY and it took me back, again, to Webster. There, the arrows you mentioned before show up. But it just remembered my previous look at the word FORENSIC within the dictionary. That of course, is potentially useful. But how do I go back to WADE on Isaiah? Is there some global button that will remember where I was?

If you're in something like Merriam Webster that you don't necessarily wish to keep open, simply click the X to close the tab (or Cmd/Ctrl W). I'm assuming that the dictionary opened in the same pane, overlaying your other (Wade) resource, otherwise you shouldn't need to "go back." When you close the dictionary's tab, the most recently active tab in that pane will be the one on top.

I noticed in your screenshot that you have an incredible amount of resources open in each pane...is that intentional?

If you do wish to keep the dictionary open (and in the same pane as Wade), you'll simply need to click on the tab for Wade.

Edit: It's possible that the appropriate tabs are simply being "crowded" off the edge of the pane and therefore not visible. If that's happening (and you really do wish to keep all the other tabs open) you'll need to click that little arrow to the right which should essentially "scroll" your tabs so that the ones to the far right are available/visible.

Ah, I was answering the wrong question. I don't know of any easy way to jump back to a previous resource. However, for this particular case I suspect many of us use the information panel so that we can see a dictionary definition without effecting our position in the original resource.

How interesting. You can see the screenshot I tried to post? I cannot see it. I have about fifteen different layouts that work really well for me BUT they do go off the page so I have to use the arrow to go right or left often.

Hi M.J. Thanks for your help. The example of the dictionary was only for illustration purposes. What I am truly attempting to learn is how to go to a spot I was at before, especially when I am taken from one resource to another (not necessarily a dictionary). Does that make sense?
