Recording With external sound card via USB

I use a M-Audio usb mixer to play/record. In the past I used one program to do a screen record with audio. before that I recorded only audio with various programs. I have made the mixer the default when plugged into the computer and even tried restarting while hooked up and then start, still I get no response in the proclaim software. Proclaim shows the input device correctly and windows(10) shows the device is receiving input and also producing sound. Using other programs it works without error but as soon as close those and go to proclaim it doesn't recognize any input nor records any.
What else can be done?

Hi, Joshua, and sorry you're having difficulty getting recording to work. The audio recording feature is still in beta, so there is still a substantial amount of hardware on which we haven't tested, yours included. In the meantime, you say that Proclaim shows the device correctly when you have other programs open; does Proclaim record properly if you have the other programs open?
Do you see any feedback coming through Proclaim at any time (input level)? Can you record a sample at any time?
We fully intend to make sure your mixer is supported as this feature develops. In the meantime, thanks for your patience while we try to get this solved.

The input level stays grey, showing no input at all. Irregardless of other apps/programs being used makes no changes. It does seem as though it is just not supported. When audio Is used during service either video or music only the program uses the mixer without fault, actually never had a problem with it. Recording is completed at the end of a service, just dead air, however there is a slight static to it.

Thanks for the report, Joshua. As we move forward, we'd like to make sure your mixer is supported for recording and not just playback purposes. Are you able to use your computer input instead of your mixer to record in the meantime?

Will be trying that later this week, the computer is a HP ENVY with touch screen. The only audio in/out is a headphone jack made with microphone built into headset. Have to get a splitter to try it out.

Let us know how it works out. In the meantime we'll be working toward a solution for you.

We still have not had any improvements in audio recording issues.

Recording through Proclaim has always worked nicely for us; but we use a superior Mac!
Have you verified that your input is actually reaching the computer? On the Mac you can test your audio inputs and outputs through System Preferences-Sound. On Windows use Control Panel-Sound. By testing your input independent of Proclaim you can verify that your computer/operating system is actually receiving a signal from the mixer or microphone. Your issue may not be with Proclaim at all, but rather your operating system settings.

It's important for us to isolate what the issue is here, namely if Proclaim or the device configuration is causing problems. If you're experiencing this issue where Proclaim isn't detecting your microphone, make sure that other applications are able to detect, configure, and utilize the same device. If so, then Proclaim isn't recognizing your system's input configuration. Otherwise, we'll have to look into why the device isn't configuring with your operating system.
