Question about Timeline's "early" and "late" dates

In timeline there are many examples of "Early" and "Late" Esp in regards to the lives of the patriarch's. I recognize that a single issue can push many things earlier or later depending on that issue.

Can someone recommend somewhere to understand some of these reasons? Thanks

Since most dating begins with a more recent event (like the exile, which is easier to pin down with secular history) and written backwards, the time of the patriarchs largely depends on the cumulative effect of every other decision made. The big issue is the length of the stay in Egypt, whether 430 or 215 years. You can probably find out the arguments for that in most old testament survey books or in commentaries on Exodus.

Some time ago I tried to suggest that the timeline could be user editable.

(Regarding to the question of 430 or 215 years, I've been thinking that before Solomon they had the "equinox year": a new year in the spring and another in the autumn, thus 6 months per year. As far as I know only very few people support this idea, but it could solve this problem.)
