Erin: This is getting frustrating.

I've had to post at least a half dozen times or more to alert Vyrso of the publishers price on books that haven't made it to the website by early morning.  I assume that you get the same information that I can get since it's just a daily email.  I'm also concerned that I haven't heard back from anyone at Vyrso on my past two posts regarding pricing/adjustments.

Again, today the publisher has "The Single Woman: Life, Love, and a Dash of Sass" for $1.99 and the Vyrso site has it listed for $9.99.  Isn't there a way to avoid having notified by customers?  I do understand that on rare occasion, you cannot honor the publisher's price for some reason, but, again, that seems rare.

    Michael, I'm sorry for your frustration.

    I do the best I can to communicate with our publishing partners about promotional pricing, as well as other things that help give our audience the best deals and the best variety we can, and I appreciate your attention to detail.

    As with any type of communication, if a publisher does not communicate a discount they're offering, either current or future, our site doesn't reflect that pricing—I can't set it up to run if I don't know it's happening :)  There are a few publishers that occasionally add in last minute promotions, and it may slip their mind to communicate updates with us. I try my best to be attentive to these slips, but there's not much I can do in preventing them if I don't know they happen in the first place. It's an honest lapse in communication between a few different parties, and not done on purpose. The forums are a great help in catching things like this!

    Erin:  I can completely appreciate being a one-person operation, as I share this situation in my employment.  However, I do have a supervisor that is forced to oversee things when I'm unavailable, so this post wast directed at you only.  I hope FL takes notice.  Don't lay people off and then have customers suffer.  As a long-time and very heavily invested patron, I hope that management hears what I'm saying, especially since I don't complain very often.

    What I was really suggesting (or asking if this would work for you) is that you subscribe to the "BookLook Deals" email that I receive and have been referring to in each of my past 10-12 posts in the Vyrso forums.

    I'd love this to be easier for you that more difficult and I apologize if I've appeared to sound like I've made this personal.  Your name is the only one I have for Vyrso book "issues."  Thank you for your patience with me.

    Thanks for your feedback, Michael. I made a general ask for additional promotions that maybe hadn't been communicated by the publisher. I should hear back by the end of today.

    What I was really suggesting (or asking if this would work for you) is that you subscribe to the "BookLook Deals" email that I receive and have been referring to in each of my past 10-12 posts in the Vyrso forums.

     

    BookLook Deals looks to be for Harper Collins books only.  There is also email lists for other publishing companies such as David C Cook and Baker . There are probably others for other publishers too that I dont' know about. These are great services for me as a consumer but are not the basis on which a business should offer discounts to their customers.

    For a discount to be offered to customers I expect a company to company 'conversation' needs to take place. I don't think it would lead to a good business to business relationship if the team at Vyrso just went and offered discounts to customers on the basis of these lists then later say to the respective publisher "hey we want a rebate because we saw in an email you were offering this at a discounted price and so went ahead and offered it to our customers".

    Currently, as most ebook distributors do, we rely solely on publisher relations and direct contacts with publishers to reflect promotional pricing they offer--we can't offer discounts on Vyrso without publisher permission.

    My suggestion is not that Vyrso JUST take the "emailed price" and use it to reprice their products online, it is to use it as a "heads-up" and then have a conversation with the publisher rather that wait for my forum post.  I would love to know why the publishers offer discounts that retailers, in this case, FL aren't being informed about.  It seems that almost every time Erin contacts the publisher, the discounted price IS offered through FL.  The urgency is that most of the time there is a very short window (sometime one day) in which to enjoy the discount.
