This resource must have had a key or introduction that gave typographical conventions - all caps, brackets etc.
We never produced the front matter. After thumbing around the internet it looks like the 1881 print edition had about 50 pages of front matter.
When we produced this in 2002 we only had (as far as I can tell) electronic source files of the Bible text only.
