NICOT/NICNT Bundle Sale [Accordance Bible]

Just noticed this sale over at Accordance Bible - http://www.accordancebible.com/store/details/?pid=NICOT-25-NICNT18-sp
Think Logos will match the offer?

The Vyrso brand will often/usually match sales, but the Logos brand usually will not. Vyrso books are basically the same as every other basic digital book (allowing them to match sales), but Logos books are more advanced in their tagging than other offerings, which makes them more expensive to produce.

Looks like it has 4 less volumes than Logos offers in their bundle, but WOW. That is a REALLY good sale!

Normally I would say no since FL always states they do not price match. The page did call it a publisher sale, leading one to believe the price was the publishers idea. If that is the case it seems strange that FL choose not to participate but it can happen.

Missed that detail. Thanks for pointing it out!

Correct, but for clarification: Vyrso doesn't "price match competitors." They extend publisher deals, but only when the publisher lowers the price on the resource for Vyrso to sell. If you see a book cheaper on Amazon, check at least a couple more sites to see if it is the same price. If so, there is a good chance Vyrso will be able to lower the price. Make sure to post in the Vyrso forum though, or there is zero chance it will be seen by the right people in time.

And occasionally Logos will do the same like with this last falls WBC sale. A publisher sale that Logos choose to participate in. This sale price according to Accordance was a price offered by the publisher, I had hoped that it was like the zondervan sale in October something that had been offered to FL to participate in too...

I think that's reflective of the fact that Zondervan has a very different contract to most publishers. They seem to be the only publisher who are allowed to set their own prices at logos.com

That's a sale that I would jump on if it was ever offered by Logos. Historically has there ever been a similar NICOT/NICNT sale or is this unprecedented?

Wow, the discount is huge! I am aware that there are licencing and contractual issues that Logos needs to comply with, but if this is a publisher sale then I don't think it would make good business sense for Logos to ignore it. Even the most dedicated Logos users will choose to get the NICOT/NICNT set in the other software at this price. Come on, Logos! :-)

I wouldn't, but the whole value of having sets like this to me is having them in my Library. I do pick up some REALLY cheap books from time to time on Kindle, but only when they are dirt cheap and when I would be willing to repurchase them in Logos if the "price were right." The price at the other site equates to ~$14 per volume. I might pick up one or two at that price if I were studying that book, but I would never drop $600 on a set which wasn't "in my library."

WINNER!! Most frequently asked question on the forums. Actually, I haven't exhaustively studied it, but it seems the price match question comes up weekly.

I doubt Logos could participate in this promotion. The NICOT/NICNT was $1000 when it was first available in Logos.

I would buy in at that price. I've been watching regularly for such a sale for this set by FL, but nothing yet. So far I've turned a blind eye to such sales by other software vendors because I'd really like to keep my resources in one package, but for a lay person who's been hoping to see such a sale in Logos for quite a while, this one may be too hard to pass over. Perhaps FL will comment as to weather or not this is a sale they can participate in.

And without intending to, you're violating the forum rules by advertising the competition's sale
Pretty slick doing so under the oldest question in the book "the price match question." I'm surprised nobody has said anything about it. We usually get people jumping all over posts like this one. I guess there's a double standard for this sort of thing. I wouldn't worry about it either way. NICOT/NICNT is my last set of commentaries I want to purchase, but I'll have to wait 'til Logos drops the price considerably.

PS. Logos, if you match this price I'll pay you cash, no payment plan. You'll get your money upfront

You can tie me to the whipping post if you must... I did mention in another thread that the NIC was on sale for a super price if you searched. I purposely avoided mentioning where because I did not wish to "advertise" in the FL forums but did want others to know it was out there knowing how much people love the NIC. As For Sale prices I am not sure how low it goes in FL but it goes on sale from ACC and OT usually a couple times a year for the $800 range... I know in ACC it was only priced this for a week but i really hope Eerdmans extends the opportunity to FL too.

I just wonder about what kind of relationship FL has with publishers that won't allow them to have these awesome sales on key resources as the NIC volumes. I'm sure they would sell a lot even if it was for just a couple of days. Oh well, one if these days
PS. Logos, my offer still stands. Price match this and I'll pay upfront

IIRC it is related to why some publishers don't have dynamic pricing - Logos owes the publisher the same amount whether or not Logos sold it at a discount.

And as for your policing, IIRC Dan P. made a humorous post to the effect that mentioning a competitor wasn't verboten ... but providing the link was.

They did not match Anchor Yale Bible Commentary for $750 from another competitor. I doubt they will match this one either. However, they did come out with a $19.99 per volume sale on Anchor not long after the competitor's sale. Not a price match, but a savings, nonetheless.
There is, of course, the always mentioned "added value" of having the commentaries in your Logos Library, and the seamless interaction with your entire library - tagging, etc.
If you just intend to open the commentary to a particular passage and read, then the competitor's price is a bargain. Depends upon what your need.

Unless a series is a really good deal, I would rather just have a per volume discount. That way I can get what I really want. Waiting expectantly....[:)]

I think for me Logos offers the better deal - if I don't buy it from Logos I save more than if I don't buy it from the competitor.

I like the pragmatism here :-) I think I will join you lol

I would think they would want to do something for their customers to compete...and I would love this idea

Well if it was at all time sensitive it matters not since the sale ends tomorrow night.

Hey guys the Logos Twitter feed mentions a NICOT/NICNT sale coming up soon (not on the general website yet) but it matches the $20/volume one talked about above so keep your fingers crossed. I would guess that by the end of the week we will know more
0 -
On a side note, anyone know of any gems/stinkers in the set if this sale doesn come to pass?
0 -
$20/vol can only buy 20 volumes.

The code doesn't apply for The Book of Judges - the only one I need.
