This is the older edition. I think it is worth bidding on.
The modern edition is already in production. We are just awaiting its release. It is also listed in pre-pub (with little progress noted), but that is just to give people a chance to buy it at a lower price before release.
The 11th edition was recognized particularly for its scholarship and quality of writing, and it is still praised for its excellence and landmark literary style. It included more articles than any previous edition, but kept them simple and concise. The three New Volumes, added in 1922, provided perspectives on events before, during, and after World War I.
