Homepage Crash - just upgraded to Win 7

I just upgraded (last night) from Vista to Win 7 (32bit).

Since then, when I run Logos 4, the homepage is crashing the program (beta 11).

Anyone experience this? Is there a simple fix?

I don't know if this is a "log" - but this is what Win 7 produced.

Ross, try opening Logos to a blank layout (instead of the last layout you closed it with) with by holding the Ctrl key down while you're starting it up. It will bring up a login screen, on which you should select to open with a blank layout. Then you should be good to go. If you try to open one of your previously saved layouts at that point, though, and get the crash again, we'll need to do some more in depth troubleshooting.

If you do keep getting a crash, please enable diagnostic logging (see http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging) and attach the log file generated to a post here on the forum (see here for how to do the latter: http://wiki.logos.com/Uploading_Logs). Another file that would be useful to attach would be crash.txt which should be generated already even if you didn't have logging enabled (helpful in debugging cases where the crash is not reproducible). You will find it in your "Logos Log Files" folder which is also where the log files are generated.

Here is a little more detail:

1) I am able to open up in a layout. I am also able (as per your direction) start up in a blank layout.

2) In the layout, I am able to work in Logos4 without any trouble.

3) It is when I click on the HomePage icon that the program crashes. It moves to the homepage, it stalls for a few seconds like it is trying to load. Then it crashes.

Did you do an in place upgrade or clean install of Win7?

Crashes like this can usually be fixed by deleting the contents of this folder: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\<random>\HomePage with Logos off and then starting it. Rosie's right... I didn't read your crash log close enough. Rebuild the index or delete the index files to force it to reindex. I would recommend deleting the files because "rebuild index" sometimes fails where deleting the files almost always works.

remember the AppData folder is hidden so you will need to enable viewing of hidden files and folders to navigate to it.

I Googled the error message you're getting in that crash log, and found that it is caused by a corrupt index. Typing "rebuild index" in the command bar should fix it.
