Update: The iOS version of the app is still under review by Apple, and hopefully will be up within the week.

I've just installed the Android Remote Beta. All works great - much more responsive.

The only problem is that the thumbnail size on the remote is now tiny and illegible - it used to be the full width of the device screen. Any chance you can return it to it's original size please as I'd love to give this a live test on Sunday morning.

Thank you so much for this. I used it last night in our Midweek Lent Service and it worked flawlessly changing slides from the tablet. There was no delay either when the slides were changed from the computer. It was very responsive.

As already mentioned, the thumbnail size on the remote is very tiny. On the other hand, that allows me to have a visual of what's coming. If it could be made a little bigger, it would be helpful to read some of the slides that have only text. I normally have everything from the slides on my notes and so I don't use the slides to read from. But it's important to know where you are in the presentation.

I am also hopeful that you will be able to develop the app in a way that we do not have to input the ip address manually. That worries me especially if something happens that the computer needs to be restarted before the service and it may end up with a different ip address. I have talked to our IT volunteers to change the computer to a static ip address so that problem does happen for now.

I tested this earlier using my Galaxy S4 and was happy with the result. A test conducted last night using an iPad was not completely successful. It managed to switch several slides ok, but then quit. It started giving me the "unable to switch slide" message. This morning during the actual service I had an entirely different problem. I only attempted to use the remote during the sermon portion, but the slides being presented on the remote device were not the same slides being displayed on the projector. However, the sermon notes were correct. I normally make a copy of the previous weeks presentation and them make changes for the current weeks song set and sermon notes. The slides being presented on the remote during the sermon portion were based on the previous weeks sermon content which I had replaced with this weeks sermon content, but the sermon notes were right. The presentation in question is "2016-03-20 Sunday". Due to this discrepancy, I never actually advanced any slides using the remote during todays service.

I used the beta remote this morning. What an improvement!

I only saw the update to Proclaim last night (it was a busy week) and then discovered about the beta remote. Downloading the beta this morning was painless.

I got everything set up, and tested it about 30 minutes before we went to air. Everything looked fine. Still a bit of a lag between selecting the slide on my phone and the actual change via the computer, however once I got used to the lag, it really didn't seem that long.

As I said, I tested it before worship, then I shut down the remote app during the scripture reading and took control of the presentation for my sermon. It all worked well (some of the screens were too text laden to really be helpful on my phone, but that's my fault not the software's).

I then shut down the remote app again, and took control of the presentation for the announcements. For a brief moment, I had an error message crop up on the phone saying something to the equivalent that it was unable to change slides. I dismissed the notification, tried again and it made the change.

I'm quite happy with how it worked (even if I was afraid to try something new at the start of Holy Week.)

I had a similar problem yesterday with the slides presented on the remote device not being the same slides displayed on the projector. The title of the slides were correct, but what was displayed in the content was not. It seems that they were from an older version of the worship service that I had worked on earlier in the week. Then I switched the local wifi mode off and the slides showed correctly in the tablet.

Because I wanted to test the app on Sunday morning, I went back to the local wifi mode. I normally copy most of the content from the slides into the notes section, which gives me more flexibility to see what's coming up in a certain content item. Even though the slides were not showing correctly, the app was very responsive in a 5Ghz wifi network. No error messages came up when changing slides from the tablet or from the computer.

A couple of you mentioned that the beta remote isn't showing changes. Well, I realized that we probably didn't make this very clear. One of the known issues right now is that onAir edits do not work with the remote.

Adding a new service item to a presentation after you can have controlled it with the local remote will require you to go offair and back onAir before it will show up in the remote.
Editing a service item's text will not show up in the remote if you do an onAir edit while controlling the presentation. The workaround for this problem is to duplicate your edited presentation and to go onAir with the duplicated one. When you control the new presentation, the remote will re-download all the slides.

Both of these issues with the beta are being worked on right now.

Thanks for adding me to the Beta trial, all seems to be fine so far and we realised the issue with onAir updates so have been working around it (although I'm not quite sure I would class it as a problem!).

We are using temporary wireless hotspots (via an iPad) at the moment as we are in a temporary worship location and it seems to work quickly enough. It will be interesting to see how much it slows (if at all) when we get back to our main building and permanent fixed\wireless Network which inevitably will be busier due to more users connected.

I used the remote beta during yesterday's Easter sunrise service and it worked perfectly. Every slide switched when commanded without any noticeable lag. I never received the "Unable to change" message that I get with the original remote.

I was using an iPad and will have to learn to scroll up to the next slide a bit earlier. It won't actually let me switch slides until the display (on the iPad) has quit scrolling. I might also consider adding more lines to each slide so I don't have to advance them quite as fast!

Does the remote have the option of displaying slides in a mosaic like the main program window does?

Thanks for the feedback Michael, glad to hear you like it so far. The remote does not support a grid preview but that's an interesting idea for tablets. We're going to give the whole app a UX refresh and I'll mention this feedback to our designer.

I am having issues with the beta. I am including some screen shots to show whats up. Android smartphone (v6) and Windows 10 desktop. I was not able to control the presentation. It was very speedy to update the Android remote view though. I was never asked for anything to pair the desktop and phone. I did login into my account, then went to About to set the wifi and IP address that was given.

Our phone app uses the user login information to determine if they are in the Presentation Group, if they are in the Presentation Group they will see the control button.

People in church can load the Proclaim phone app and when they login, the app will only show the follow button because they should not be in your Presentation Group.

The Church group has no affect on the remote app.

It is not necessary to use the same login on both the phone and desktop, but you can do that.

I know this subject has been broached before with not much of a positive response from the folks from Logos, but I would really love to see these on the Universal Windows Platform so that my tablets and phones could have it. I understood Logos not writing for Windows Phone a couple of years ago because of market share, but now that it's a universal platform, there's no reason not to write for the 200 million+ windows 10 devices and growing that already exist. I have no desire to purchase an android or iOS device so it would be nice to have apps to go along with my $300/year subscription to Proclaim since I'm the one primarily responsible for audio/visual management at my church.

I have some feature request for the new Wifi Remote, but let me begin by expressing my great satisfaction with it so far. I have used it in combat on several occasions and am 99.9% satisfied. Thanks you all for putting in all the hard work to make it a reality.

Now, on to my feature suggestions:

I would love to be able to access the OSB from the remote.
I would love to be able to use the remote on my Ipad in split screen mode. I use an Ipad to control my QSC mixer, and must use a separate device (usually my Android phone) for controlling the slides. I would like to be able to control both units simultaneously from the same Ipad, using the available split screen feature.

I am thrilled that local remote has gotten off of the ground! It works very well and has a wonderful responsive kick!

However, I am not able to use it during worship for the sole reason that there is no "Confidence Monitor" mode. Where this becomes an issue is reading the OSB off of the remote from the pulpit. Since I'm changing the slides and reading at the same time I need confidence monitor to work (since reading off of the OSB icons only produces fuzzy text).

I am pretty confident that this standard feature will be included in future releases, but wanted to voice my concern that it's a deal breaker just in case it hadn't made it to the list.

The goal is for full functionality for the Local remote (and possibly more), this includes confidence monitor, notes (I even got live OnAir editting of notes working this week - Local remote only so far), On Air slide editing, Quick Screens, Order of Service.

We just shipped an update to the Proclaim Desktop app as well as an update to the Proclaim Remote beta. The Android remote should be live now, and the iOS remote will be available soon once it passes beta app review. You will need to update to the new beta app (2.2) in order to use local wifi control with the newest Proclaim (1.32.0.1093).

Thanks - have just tested this on my Android phone & home PC. Really helpful to have the thumbnails back to full size, and any live edits replicated to to the remote device. This combined with the improved performance of local network use makes the app truly useful again.

Do you have a list of updates included in the update?
Is there anything else you'd specifically like tested?

One feature request - low priority, but would be useful. Allow us to add two (or more) local WiFi IP addresses with a name associated, so we can switch between them and not have to remember the IP address of each network. A 'nice to have' - definitely not a show stopper.

Thanks for the feedback! Here is a list of some of the changes we made to the Remote with this release (there are too many to list, but these are the major ones):

Support for confidence view.
Support for notes view.
Support for on-air edits.
Fixed an issue where changing presentations on air would crash the remote.
Handle the case in which Proclaim crashes while on air.
Thumbnail images are rendered properly.
Fixed an issue where retina displays were giving incorrectly sized images to the remote.

As far as the feature request -- it's on the horizon for us to have auto-detect for IP addresses, which would resolve you having to re-enter it every time. A cached list of IP addresses would be another possibility.

Did anybody notice with the remote not showing the slide pictures this last weekend? Before the last update my remote was working great. Saturday was the first chance I'd had to try the new version. I could only see part of the slides when using it with the notes and the sound recording quite about 10 minutes into the sermon. I tried reloading the remote with no change. I didn't try reloading proclaim itself. Just wondering if it was just me or not.

I used the latest beta release yesterday, with notes, on both iPad and Android phone. The slide images and notes were displayed correctly on both the big screen and the remotes, and the sermon recording worked correctly.

However, it did disconnect from the presentation several times without warning. It popped up an alert box saying that the presentation went off air and returned to the presentation selection list. It did this once on the Android and several times on the iPad, but not on both at the same time. I had enough time between slides to restart the remote control again on the iPad and keep going. It kinda freaked out my assistant who was controlling song slides on the Android, so she gave up on the remote and moved to the console.

This was not happening before the latest update to the beta.

Yes, Jordan. At first the slides started working fine on the remote. About a quarter of the way through they just went to tiny dots. The notes continued to advance ok. I'm using a 10 in Samsun tablet.

The Local wifi remote connects directly to the Proclaim application, I'm curious what platform your Proclaim Desktop is running on - Windows or Mac?

I have an idea that might explain why the remote is disconnected from the desktop OnAir presentation. We added some code with this beta to reduce the number of OnAir status requests when the local remote is connecting to Proclaim running on a Windows platform. I suspect that this is timing out the remote and the remote 'thinks' the presentation went off air when it actually stays on air.

Can you grab the logs from the Proclaim Desktop you are connecting to? The local wifi remote works by directly connecting to the desktop - where you got the IP Address when you enabled the 'Remote' under the Settings dialog.

I suspect it was a larger presentation and some of the slide requests just stopped trying to get slide images due to the Desktop application failing to create slide images for all the service items (the remote attempts 15 times to get a slide image). This is similar to when you load a large presentation for the first time on a new computer, it takes some time for all the slides to render as images.

If you exit the presentation on the remote (leave the presentation OnAir) and go back in (click control again) it should start over and try to get slide images for service items it does not already have cached on the phone or tablet.

I did an extended test at home last night, and experienced numerous disconnects. I think it is due to WiFi loading. I will get you the logs in a while. We were streaming Netflix on two other computers at the sand time I was streaming over airplay and using remote contol.

Keep an eye on it during this weekend services as well, grab logs from the Desktop app after weekend services and it would be a big help if you knew approximate timing of the disconnects ("I was disconnected about 9:37").

Everyone should update to the version provided through the AppStore and PlayStore. I'll be sending an email out to all the current beta users in case they miss this post. I also won't kill the beta until after Sunday in case someone was still banking on using it, wouldn't want it to expire while they are trying to preach!

Last week we installed a dedicated PC to run Proclaim (having previously relied on various underspec laptops). We tested it as thoroughly as possible during the week, then went live with it on Sunday morning.

We have a radio remote control connected via USB (mimics left & right arrows) which worked perfectly.

I was also running Proclaim Remote on iOS in WiFi Network Only mode to provide control. About 10 minutes into the service the iPad incorrectly reported that the presentation had gone off-air. I managed to reconnect and it worked for a while, then when I tapped to change slide (on the iPad) the slide visual changed but the spinning wheel was visible and the main presentation (and projector) didn't change. I closed the iPad app and relied on the remote buttons instead [as I needed to focus on the service].

Out of curiosity I tried to connect my Android phone (also configured for local WiFi) but it couldn't connect to the local presentation [apologies, I don't remember the exact message].

Are others still having these 'wifi only' service drop-outs?

What do we need to do to try and get these issues resolved?

The local Wifi connection, connects directly to the Proclaim desktop application running the presentation, we have logging on the desktop app that should show what it thinks happened. Can you post those logs?

When you post the logs, it would be helpful to indicate what time of day the iPad reported that the presentation went off air, so I can narrow into the correct log (our logging saves 5 logs files.)

The iOS app does also log, but we don't have a good way to get those off of your phone. This is something we want to add.
