Unable to use offline

Good Afternoon-

I have been trying to resolve this issue, but to no avail. I am unable to use Proclaim unless I have an active Internet connection. At issue is, I am a Chaplain and often find myself without Internet but with need to present.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this a common bug?

For reference, I am using a Mac Book Pro with latest OS (El Capitan 10.11.3) and Proclaim version 1.31 (1.31.0.0899). My license is up for renewal in a week, and I need to determine if I can get this to fit the bill.

Just tested it Brian. It loads and will run, of course signals will not work and it cannot sync.

Thank you for the reply. Perhaps I need to uninstall and reinstall... At least I know the functionality should be there, which is a step in the right direction.

Which aspects of Proclaim were you unable to use without a network connection?

Hi Brian

Just to confirm that the system should work. I present most Sunday evenings in a hall with no internet.

I make sure that my presentation is fully synced to my macbook before leaving home.

When I get to the venue I have two options - connect the computer to the PA and Projector and run the presentation

or (what I do a the moment)

Plug in an AppleExpress to create a local network.
Run a network cable from the Apple Express to an Apple TV (optional but more reliable) (apple TV preset to local network)
Run a HDMI cable from the apple TV to a splitter to take the sound off the HDMI feed (my projector doesn't have a sound output)
From the splitter take the sound to the PA and the video to the projector.
Start up the MacBook and WiFi connect to the local network

This leaves all the projection stuff in a tower in front to the machine with only the mains cable and the cables to the two PA speakers to be navigated.

The presentation can then be run from anywhere in the room -- the macbook being light enough to carry around or pass between people.

In theory I should be able to control the presentation by using the remote on my iPad or iPhone but I haven't had time to try that yet.

I am unable even to launch the proclaim software when no Internet is present. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, and tried on two different Macs (both running the same OS).

When the opening splash screen reads, "Syncing", it simply spons for about 30-45 seconds before presenting me with the " this program quit unexpectedly" error.

I'm happy to send the detail log if it will help.

You are well ahead of me, but you're speaking my language. My goal is to be able to spin up AppleTV, connect my macbook to that, and conduct services / studies / etc... From whatever facility (building, tent, etc...) I may have access to.

I think I'll print your response and work toward that!

I will say that I built the presentation on my macbook... Is there still a need to sync it locally? Or, is there somethng I need to do to initiate the sync?

If you could try starting the application up without network, reproduce the crash, then restart (with network) and grab the logs to attach to this thread we should be able to figure out what is happening. What you describe is definitely not expected behavior.

If you're not collaborating with other users/machines then it is not required to sync the presentation to the cloud. You can manually initiate a sync by clicking the sync icon in the upper right of the main window.

Brian - I am using a first generation AppleTV which means that it does not have the ability to connect to a network that is set up from the macbook itself

Hence the need for the Apple Express to do the network lifting.

I think (but am not sure) that if I had the latest model of AppleTV the network created on the MacBook should be able to do the job.

Perhaps one of the experts will comment! :-)
