E-mail wants me to reinstall. Why should I?

It isn't telling you to reinstall. It is telling you that if you get a new computer you can do so. This is from sales, and the "population" (demographic group of emails) may have been off. Have you made any purchases since then? Big ones, or just small ones?

Just in case this helps, I looked up the invoice for the last computer I bought ... the one I am using now ... August 16, 2013.

I'm most certain that I installed Logos within a few days of purchase.

I'm not seeing the word "if" in my e-mail.

The "if" is implied. It reads: "Your license allows you to reinstall Logos when you get a new computer."

When sending out emails, there are people who write queries against a database. The effectiveness of whom they reach depends upon 1) the efficiency of the code/query and 2) the accuracy of the data.

At one time I helped to write queries (not for FL). I often had little choice about HOW I wrote them, because the request was explicit. Just as an example: If you are trying to reach people who live in a particular area, a couple of methods might be using zip codes or area codes. Sometimes you would use both. Zip codes are more likely to be accurate, especially with the advent of the cell phone. Many people now have cell phones with area codes out of state, so the reliability of using that criterion is less effective.

How does this apply here? Have you purchased a new computer? If yes, you can (i.e. "are allowed to") reinstall. If no, don't worry about it. FL has no idea if you have a new computer or not. They probably know if your account has installed their software on a new machine. The query <may> have been run to ask for a population where users 1) have not made major purchases in [x period of time] and 2) have not installed Logos on a new machine.

What is the point of this email? My best guess: They were looking for people whom they believe may have dropped off the radar. They are trying to remind these people, "Hey! You own Logos. You can still use it!" The effectiveness of the query seems to be somewhat "iffy," at least in the case of y'all.

Well, no matter real or fake ... never clik-thru on emails. The 'From' can be faked, the message can very much seem real. And 'here' is an invitation to destroy your pc, your finances, or identity, depending.

I get really tired of banks and other trusted sources doing this, knowing they can be so easily faked. It's irresponible.

The email isn't telling any users to reinstall the software on a computer which already has it installed, which is why I said the "if" was implied. The choice of the word "reinstall" was unfortunate, but not wholly inappropriate. It would have been more clear to say something like, "Did you know that you are allowed to install Logos on a new computer when you purchase one? If you have purchased a new computer for your personal use since purchasing your base package, feel free to download the latest version of the software engine and unleash the power of Logos!"

I was amused to get that email. I make frequent and some fairly large recent purchases. I have Logos on 3 computers (one fairly new) and misc, devices. Nevertheless I got the email, so my bases are covered.

I'm sorry that some of you got this email who shouldn't have. I responded to this issue in another thread. You can read there what the goal of the email was. I'm puzzled how active users could have received it. We're looking into it. I'm sorry for the confusion.
