Datasets

Hi new here,
Question: I see in the store various datasets, like the Preaching Dataset for sermon links. Can this be bought and used with the core engine?
I am a heavy Accordance user and supplement my Accordance library with titles in Logos. At this stage looking at either a cheap base package or cross grade. Wanted to try out the data set before I commit.

If you see them in the store on a product page with a price and the "buy" button attached, you can buy them. However, datasets normally are sold only in base packages or crossgrades (very new ones may be contained in the Now subscription). The price tags given to them will be used for "dynamic pricing" so ownes will not have to pay them again when they buy another package (the relative worth of what one owns will be deducted).
Hope this helps,
Mick

You can get that (along with the companion Thematic Outlines dataset) with the cheaper Core Crossgrade, and try it for 30 days along with other features. Return it if not satisfied.
Note that you will need appropriate preaching/sermon resources to get satisfactory results. You can buy collections/series of these from the Logos Store for a reasonable amount (much cheaper than a base package) e.g.

An other option to try our datasets is to look on the dataset page whether or in what level of Logos Cloud it is available. Then try out Logos Cloud for one month free.
If you go that route you have to be aware that Logos Cloud comes with lots of books that will fill your library and give you lots of results in the sermon starter guide etc. coming from those resources that you do not own. Meaning, once you cancel the subscription you'll end up with less hits.

Thanks trying the Cloud option

I find this to be one of the most annoying aspects of the Logos online store. Intuitively, if something is listed as a product, I should be able to buy it. If it isn't an independent product, but rather a component of another product, it should be included in the description that product.
What I find truly bizarre is seeing datasets show up under "free books" with no price listed - and no way to buy them. Examples include:
I understand and support Faithlife's desire to highlight all of the features of its various products, but this seems like the wrong way to do it. It's bad enough to have a "product" that, even though it has a price, you can't buy it. It somehow seems worse to have a "free" product that you can't get.

I have a similar frustration with datasets. I am currently operating under the logos 6 core engine and there exist several datasets that I would like to have at my disposal, which I cannot have without upgrading. Upgrading is fine, however, I cannot justify spending (nor do I have the money to do so) 100+ dollars upgrading and purchasing a slew of resources that I do not need and can pretty much guarantee I will never use (I have 1,800 books in my collection and probably use less than 5% of those). I can understand Faithlife's perspective, as this allows them to make money, however, at the same time, it does prevent others from being able to take advantage of the tools logos provides.
Jonathan Edwards and Charles Spurgeon didn't have the benefit of Logos Bible software so I guess I'll be okay too.

Better deal for datasets, features, interactives, temporary resources, ... is Logos Now or Verbum Now membership for $ 89.99 per year (currently; goes up to $ 99.99 next year)
Older crossgrades have been superceded by Logos 7 feature sets.
Note: "Full" includes ownable feature and dataset licenses, but does not include online only items that need Now membership.
