Help! Collections won't sync between computers

My desktop has about 3 Collections, my laptop has the 20 or so that I have created.
I can create a new collection on desktop, and I see it on laptop.
But if I delete that collection on my laptop, it does not delete on desktop. So adds/updates etc. only go one way, desktop to laptop. But laptop does not have all my Collections on it, not sure it has the 3 or so that it has - maybe I originally created them there?
I have tried deleting, and copying over the ResourceCollectionManager.db from good laptop to bad desktop, with no success. In either case, I then have NO Collections! So I Just put back the desktop's original .db file.
What can I do to get my Collections properly syncing??? I am on beta 12
Thanks!

FYI I also tried SYnc Now (I usually just click on the sync arrows inthe top right corner) and I also tried holding down the control key so I can explicitly confirm that it is logging me in to the right account. It's like something is either corrupted or ...? I did a search through the log file and I see no unusual errors and nothing that seemed odd when I searched on "Collection", but of course I am not an expert...
Thanks for your help or suggestions!!!

Here's another piece of information this sure sounds like something messed up on the server but I don't know!
Having two copies of file explorer displayed, pointing to both computers, I copy the good ResourceCollectionManager.db (13K large) to the bad computer, whose .db file was 10K. When I run Logos 4 on the bad computer, I see the .db file revert to a 10K file size! So it seems to be syncing, but just to something WRONG. When I bring up Collections on the bad computer after that, I have NO Collections. So I exit, put the original 10K bad Collections .db file back, and I just get the 3 Collecitons that I presume I created there - but none of my other 17 or so Collections that are on the good computer.

Dominick, someone else, (I think on the Logos 4 forum) seems to be complaining about the same thing. I've no idea if he is also running beta.
Sorry I don't have the link here. If I find it again, I'll try and copy it over. It might have been titled something like 'What should sync?" etc.

I saw that thread, thanks Steve. I have been doing searching, it seems to come up from time to time but I haven't found a solution yet except delete the ResourceCollectionManager.db which does not seem to work for me.
Hopefully someone else has an idea. Let me know if anyone wants to see a log file...

I am not running Beta but have the same experience. Except in the other direction. I have 42 collections on my desktop and only 10 on my laptop. I recently created a new collection on the laptop which transferred to the desktop. fine.

Dominick and Robert ~ A few questions:
- On the systems that are not receiving the synched Collections, are there problems with downloading Logos 4 software and resource updates?
- Do they have different Internet security software or configurations?
- Does the 'sync now' command followed by a Logos 4 restart make any difference?
If the answer is 'no' to these questions, perhaps you could attach logs from that system and the ResourceCollectionManager.db from both systems.
Thanks,
Melissa0 -
For what it is worth, I had a similar problem syncing my Mac beta with the PC beta. It would sync one direction but not the other. I completely deleted the mac installation and started it over. Then it started working fine.

Thanks,
MelissaThanks Melissa for your help! To answer your questions:
1. I have had no problems with updates of resources, program, or other of my personal info. It has gone right through Beta 4 -> 12 with no problems, plus added resources during that time. I verified today that changes in things like Prayer Lists, and Reading Plans updates fine between the two systems.
2. Should not have anything different that I am aware of.
3. Attached is a log from the bad system, before this log I did sync now, let it finish, and exited. So this log contains the start after that, I saw it sync, I opened collections to see if all of them were there (they were not), and then I closed.
The two Resource Collection Manager databases are named appropriately - "Bad" has 3-4 collections only, "Good has about 20 from the system where things are working properly.
Please let me know if you need any more info, and certainly if you have ideas how to fix this. Thanks!!!

Thanks Melissa. If they come up with any clues and you can let me know I would surely appreciate it! That desktop is somewhat out of commission now given the missing collections and not knowing what else might be amiss.
Thanks for all the work you folks do with Logos!

Does one system have 4.0a installed and the other 4.0b? Collections that are upgraded to 4.0b will not sync back to 4.0a.

Hi Melissa,
No both systems are on 4.0b beta 12. I have always kept both systems sync'd to the same version, whether beta or not. I came over to 4.0b at beta 4.

Hi Dominick,
I looked up your account in our system, and it showed no licenses, no orders, no sync data, which seems highly unusual. Can you confirm the email address you're logging in to Logos 4 with? (If you want, you can give only the part above the "@" if you don't want to post your full address on the forum.)
Also, is it possible that you called our CS or Accounting departments and they merged multiple accounts that you had in our systems?

Hi Bradley,
I use a different account for purchases for security reasons since our names are on the Internet a lot. I'll give a call in with my info, not sure what you mean by the part above the @ anyway!

Oh - PS I have not done any kind of merging of accounts, I have only used one account for purchases. And I just left a voice mail on Bradley's phone with my account information!
Thanks for looking into this one, let me know if you need more info...

I have your account info now. (BTW, I meant "before the @ sign"... not sure why I typed "above".)

Thanks Bradley.
As another data point, I think this problem may have happened due to the problem I reported here: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/12766.aspx
You see in the second post there a side effect was the sync arrows kept turning and turning, so I took steps from there. And then soon after I saw the Collection problem.

The databases we create have a number of inter dependencies and are not designed to be copied from one computer to another. Is it possible that you have copied some files in the past between these machines? If this is the case one of the databases may have prevented some sync data from getting downloaded. You could try deleting your local preferences %localappdata%\Logos4\Documents\<user>\LocalUserPreferences. In general it is bad to delete, modify or copy these databases, because it can cause unexpected behavior. If you run into any issues after deleting your local user preferences please let me know.

Hi Todd,
I did try to copy over the ResourceCollectionManager db but when it didn't work I restored the old one. If that hosed something up, so be it. I don't think I have ever copies over any other files between computers, but I can't be 100% certain.
I just finished a reinstall, and everything is now fine again. Hopefully you have what you need to investigate, or maybe we just chalk it up to beta weirdness (software and user!) between beta 4 and 12, lots of crashes and things going on from time to time. Maybe a fresh install was best.
Anyway hope that was ok, as I needed to get use of my desktop back. I will try and behave better in the future with regard to moving files around <g>.

Well my problems continue on that computer. After a full reinstall (I copied resources over to another folder, then Scan of them; I did the install on another computer method #3 from the wiki), now Logos 4 crashes every time I start it - even if offline or no home page. Has anyone seen this crash before?
Here are the files:

When this error has occurred before it was due to the database schema being newer than the latest schema recognized by the code. Did you reinstall 4.0b B12 when you performed the reinstall? From the beta download link (http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/InstallerBeta/Logos4Setup.exe)? Did you bring over any files besides resources?

Thanks Melissa, it's good to know what it was. I thought I downloaded the right exe, I just clicked on your link and I think I'll just uninstall and reinstall again with this one to be sure. The only think I preserved was Resources, and those were brought in via a Scan command.
I'll report back how it goes...

Also see http://community.logos.com/forums/t/12879.aspx where this occurred with 4.0a. The OP has not responded to state if it followed a re-install or just occurred on startup.

Thanks Dave, I saw that one - I replied to that thread today to cross-post my crash from here since I found it on a search. Possibly a slight faux-pas....

I created a bug report http://wiki.logos.com/Bug$3a_System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException as I'm not convinced the issue is entirely related to user installation. How is your re-install going?

So far so good - uninstall fine, reinstall no incidents, it's at Stage 1 of 3 of Preparing my library. It will probably be tomorrow before I can test it out.
I downloaded the setup file Melissa pointed to, and I checked the venison number of the file before I started to make sure it was beta 12. (I did method #3 from the wiki on install to another computer).

My analysis of your crash makes me think that bad data had gotten into your LibraryCatalog\catalog.db and KeyLinkManager\keylinkmanager.db files. (I have updated the metadata on our server to try to prevent this problem.) Uninstalling and reinstalling will have had the side-effect of deleting these two files, which should fix the problem.

Good morning!
Well it appears the install finished successfully, it indexed, and I have restarted a couple of times without incident!
I am trying a merge index as I just received the NIBCNT, but all seems well on this problem! I guess I must have reinstalled with an old version of Logos 4 somehow. Other than one anomaly with the resources of NIBCNT which I will post in the Logos 4 forum, all seems well!
Thanks for all your help, Dave, Melissa, Bradley, Todd, and everyone else who chipped in!
