If you are currently a subscriber to Logos or Verbum Now, either monthly or annual, you don’t need to do anything. You will automatically be a part of the new Logos/Verbum Now membership program and enjoy all the current and new benefits membership has to offer.

I am currently a monthly NOW subscriber, and have been since day 1, Just confirming that as of now I don't have to change anything and I will still have access to all the new benefits that are being advertised. I can't seem to access the new members offers/NT146 mobile ed class/doing theology series/etc

Please be patient as we roll out changes and apply benefits to member licenses. We are going through our process of updating everything to reflect the new program changes and will make an announcement soon. Thanks.

Hello everyone, there were last minute changes to August's preview resources and to the Mobile Ed course being made available through Logos Now membership.

For August the preview resources are:

    • T&T Clark Companion to the Septuagint
    • The International Theological Commentary (ITC): Joel

The Mobile Ed course being offered is:

    • Mobile Ed: NT156 The Significance of the Resurrection

The website has been refreshed to reflect these changes.

Users licenses have updated so  Logos Now members have access to these products in their libraries.

    From the Logos Now FAQ:

"Do I need to own a Logos 6 base package to use Logos Now?

No, Logos Now gives you access to all of the Logos Bible Software features, including those in Logos 6. However, you will need library resources to make better use of the features."

This is new, right? IIRC, you previously had to have Logos 6 (package, cross-grade etc) for Logos Now to make sense. Or maybe I was mistaken?

I don't know that you "had to" but Logos Cloud was designed for those who didn't own a package while Logos Now was designed for those who did (roughly speaking).

I'm glad the rumors were wrong and L7 didn't officially launch today. I need a little more time and a little more money before I can be ready for L7 (even though I'll get access to the engine and datasets included in my Logos Now subscription).

Yes, and now that they took away the "last minute change" resources (the NT146 mobile ed class and the "doing theology" series) all the hype was nothing more than a some discounted resources this month. Looking forward to next month though.

Correct, this is new. Previously, Logos Now only gave subscribers access to the early release features of Logos 7.

Now, Logos Now gives members access to all features, content, datasets, media included in Logos 6, plus access to features we will only deliver via a subscription (such as Lemma in Passage and Lexham Discourse features) plus access to the early release features of Logos 7.

Yes, this is new. Logos Now now includes full access to all Logos features, so whether you're just getting started or aren't fully up to date, Logos Now will ensure you have access to every feature available. Instead of being just for Logos 6 Gold and higher owners, it's now for everyone.

So... for those of us who have been loyal Logos base package purchasers AND Logos Now subscribers, who have we gained, or lost?

Other than losing the monthly subscription option, I don't see us gaining anything (compared to the original Logos Now program)... am I missing something?

Yes, don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I've been a very happy NOW subscriber since day one. But there hasn't been any new features since April, so I was anticipating a major release of sorts today from the hype. Only Chrome knows (and God :-)) how many times I refreshed the site this morning to see the New Improvements of NOW. I'm glad they're committing to offer a free Mobile Ed class per month (from what I can tell), and always welcome discounts, but I join the sentiments of those who thought something more was coming today. Bottom line: Looking forward to the future releases of Logos, and I have enjoyed what has been released so far.

NOW subscribers are supposed to get new features every 6 weeks. I agree that we haven't seen much in the past few months (and I don't see how they can sustain that indefinitely anyhow). At some point, they may have to drop the promise of new features every 6 weeks.

    JH and James,

As you have noticed, our six-week releases have gotten smaller over the last couple. We had to slow down a bit to work on some special surprises for the next major release. As a general rule, we want to be releasing plenty of new value every six weeks, but occasionally we may need to slow down to work on some bigger things that take more than one release cycle to build. I think you'll soon agree that it's been worth the wait.

For those of you who are already Logos Now subscribers and looking for what the new program means for you, here are the four things that have changed (beside ending the monthly option):

    1. Logos Now is now a membership program. Unlike the original Logos Now, which was primarily subscription-access to new Logos features, the new Logos Now is a membership program designed with both owners and subscribers in mind.

    2. Logos Now now has a members-only page where you’ll find regularly updated discounts, offers, and more. If you’re a regular or even occasional Logos buyer, you may save enough in members-only discounts to more than pay for your annual membership.

    3. Logos Now now includes access to all Logos features, not just the ones we’ve built since Logos 6 shipped. Originally, Logos Now was meant as an add-on for Logos 6 Gold and higher owners to get early-access to Logos 7 features. Now it’s for everyone and grants access to all the feature includes in Logos 6 Gold plus all future features. Whether you’re a regular upgrader, have missed a version or two, or are just getting started, Logos Now gives you full access to all features.

    4. Logos Now members will enjoy a special 5% bonus discount on Logos 7. This is on top of the introductory discount that everyone will enjoy.

There’s more in the works that we'll reveal in coming weeks, but that’s all for now. :)

A typo from the FAQ (see strike-through):

Does the Logos Cloud Feature Set work offline?

Yes. The Logos Cloud Feature Set is accessed through your Logos desktop app and most features are available offline. You have to be online to install the features initially, but you it will work offline after that. You will also have access to an online version of the software, which does require an Internet connection. Features like Media Browser will require an Internet connection to access your media.

    Phil,

One thing I haven't seen specifically answered, though it may have been... Are those of us who already have an annual Logos Now subscription automatically part of this new "membership?" And we merely need to renew as we normally would have to continue in this new membership?

The implicit answer seems to be, "Yes." But I'd love that to be made clear, and perhaps put on the "Explore the Benefits" page (assuming I haven't simply missed it).

Yes. No action needed for current subscribers. If you're monthly, you'll need to convert to annual by 12/31/16.

You will already have them as rental, but we can purchase them to own in a base package, and as Phil has mentioned elsewhere, there will likely be a book only option as well, for those who don't mind continuing to merely rent the new features, but still want base package priced bundle of books. (often advertised as "10 cents on the dollar")

Since I've been enjoying Logos Now up to this day, I expect less and don't have any excitement and great expectation on Logos 7 except seeing big  book bundle offers. And also I'm disappointed by the Logos Now members only offer.

I take it from this that Logos 7 won't come until 2017.  Only my guess of course but if us monthly folk aren't being forced to upgrade until then I'd doubt they'd give us that discount before that point as we could take the 5% (and other goodies) and run (not that that adds to much in the long run but still)

Thanks for your prompt reply Phil, but I can't hold my disappointment...

    1. Membership vs. Subscription -- seems like a semantic/marketing change and makes no practical difference as far as I can tell.

    2. Members-only Page -- again, just another way to get us to buy more books... I already own Logos ebooks beyond I can read and utilize in my lifetime.

    3. Access to all Features -- for us current Now subscribers, we already own Gold+ and so already own all Logos features.

    4. 5% Discount on Logos 7 Upgrade -- another incentive for us to spend more money... and 5% seems like a very stingy reward for our continued loyalty.

It really seemed like the indicators were pointing to L7 being released today, and I am a little disappointed.  I know all of this is leading up to the release, but I was hoping it would be today.  Oh well, I purchased Collector's Edition Saturday in case L7 was going to be released today, but now I need to decide on whether or not I want to keep it!  I assume it will still be released relatively soon.

The only indicators of a Logos 7 release today were the blind sheep who generated all the hype about an imminent release. It used to be that people talked about the signs of the times and whether they were pointing to a return of Christ. In these days it seems that the signs of the arrival of a piece of software, Logos 7, is more important to some folk.  Oh the irony if Christ were to return the day before Logos 7 is  to be actually released. ps. I have no inside information on either event.

Joseph if it's in your budget and you have real use for the books keep it, it's a good buy - if you bought it for any other reason ... Well that's your call as to whether you return it.

It's an important change. It means we're aiming to prove the value of Logos Now even to those who aren't interested in subscription-access to features. We intend to offer enough value in Logos Now as a membership (think Amazon Prime or Costco) that it's worth your annual membership dues all by itself.

PL said:2. Members-only Page -- again, just another way to get us to buy more books... I already own Logos ebooks beyond I can read and utilize in my lifetime.

Or it's a way for those who are already buying books to get even better deals. Not everyone has all the books they'd like to.

PL said:3. Access to all Features -- for us current Now subscribers, we already own Gold+ and so already own all Logos features.

Not true. A surprisingly large number of current Now subscribers don't own Logos 6 Gold or higher (or the L6 Feature Crossgrade) and therefore have a gap in their functionality. This group benefits by getting fully caught up.

PL said:4. 5% Discount on Logos 7 Upgrade -- another incentive for us to spend more money... and 5% seems like a very stingy reward for our continued loyalty.

The majority of people who subscribe to Logos Now will buy a Logos 7 product, and so this amounts to the same thing as #2 for most people: an even better deal on what they were already going to buy.

5% is actually not insignificant considering the average upgrade price. In many cases, customers will save close to half of their annual membership cost.

    PL said:

    I can't hold my disappointment...

I'm sorry you're disappointed. I do hope that you'll continue to get enough value out of the aspects of a Logos Now membership that appeal to you. If not, we'll keep working to provide more value to the program in the coming weeks and months.

    2. Upgrade at a members-only price to a Logos 7 library and enjoy membership access to the features.
    3. Skip the library and upgrade at a members-only price to a Logos 7 feature set.
    4. Skip the library and enjoy membership access to the features.

This is part of making Logos Now a membership program that's palatable to owners and those open to subscription-access to features. Logos Now ensures that you get a great deal on Logos 7 no matter your preference for ownership vs. subscription and library vs. feature growth.

Well I'm glad that I provided you with this opportunity to get all dramatic and sanctimonious, but I had several sources that I thought were pointing to a release today.  I am still fairly confident that the release is eminent.

P.S. I don't look to signs for the return of Christ because He said that no one could know the time, but no one ever told me I shouldn't look for signs of software releases.  You are clearly highly offended and put out by the exercise, but I find it harmless and entertaining, and since I have OCD, I also find it therapeutic.

I hope there is more because that was once again a whole lot of marketing hype for a whole lot of nothing so far other than a change of terminology from subscription to membership.

That's not accurate. There's more than a change in terminology, as I outlined here and here.

Keep in mind that these changes we've rolled out may be far more meaningful to other customers, like those below Logos 6 Gold, or those using an earlier version of Logos, or those who want to get started with Logos and build their own library, or those who are regular buyers and would save enough in their existing spending to pay for the membership, or those planning on a large upgrade to Logos 7, or . . . .

The post on Friday was pretty lacking in hype. We did it as a courtesy to our customers who like advanced warning before we make changes (i.e., dropping the monthly option). It was an attempt at better communication.

Joseph I don't look for any signs of Christ return either and was not suggesting anyone does or should, but was simply highlighting how fickle such chatter is when it comes to what is really important in life. I am not offended by it simply over it. I'm not about to disclose in these forums what I have had to deal with in my personal life over this past year, I hope none of you have to deal with what I have dealt with, but if you all did know you would be so less quick to judge why I don't get hypo over a piece of software or about Logos Marketing in general. Reading this thread in full its clear I'm not the only one who sees there is nothing new in this exercise other than a name change. I really do hope there is more to come, but much more than that I am looking forward to Christ's return or moving onto eternity whichever comes first.

I think you need to distinguishing between "nothing new" and "nothing new for me". As Phil has said repeatedly, people who don't own Logos 6 Gold or above will benefit significantly from this change. He's also said there are quite a few of those folk.

As a long-time Logos user with a large library, I've got very used to offers and upgrades and free books that are of no benefit to me (because I already have them). But just because they don't benefit me doesn't mean they're of no benefit.

In addition, even for me, this new deal means I get a 5% discount on Logos 7. I've no idea how much Logos 7 will cost me, but I know that Logos 6 cost me $1,910.14. If Logos 7 is similar, that 5% will be worth $95.50, which would mean that even if I received nothing but the discount, Logos Now really would pay for itself.

I think this qualifies as a major change and will change how I approach my library. I have been a long-time user of Logos (since 2003) and have over 8000 resources in my library. I have most of the resources I want, though I still watch for deals on others.

In the old model, I would spend around $600 to upgrade my base package and obtain all of the new features. With this new model, I can spend $90 per year to get all of the new features and decide if I want to add more resources or not. If I cancel my membership, I still have all of the features of my Logos 6 package (which is still quite powerful) and all of my resources.

The thing is that in the old way, you can get the new features with the Features Crossgrade. You didn't need to upgrade your base package. Looking at the price for the current Features Crossgrade, it looks very comparable with a Logos Now subscription - probably by design. However, I know I paid a lot less than the listed price because of Dynamic pricing. On the other hand, I didn't get the future cookies with that :)

So it is yet another option to consider when Logos 7 comes out - and more choice is not usually a bad thing.

Joseph I don't look for any signs of Christ return either and was not suggesting anyone does or should, but was simply highlighting how fickle such chatter is when it comes to what is really important in life. I am not offended by it simply over it. I understand doc, and I didn't mean to come across too strongly, but a lot of things could be jettisoned when it comes down to it.  People get excited over sports, comic book movies, cars, etc..., and we could all take a break.  I do get excited about the prospect of a larger library because I do a lot of research.  Logos is one of my vices.  Instead of a salesman, I have a dealer, lol.

I certainly hope that things have improved for you, and I will keep you in my prayers.

The post on Friday was pretty lacking in hype. We did it as a courtesy to our customers who like advanced warning before we make changes (i.e., dropping the monthly option). It was an attempt at better communication.

I apologize for using the hype word, I do appreciate you communicating with us in advance and I can definitely see how many users would see this as a game changer, now the the details are more clear.  Thanks again
