Lectionary for Mass Coming This Month

The Lectionary for Mass: For Use in the Dioceses of the United States of America, 2nd ed., vols. 1–4 is scheduled to ship later this month. Still time to order at a savings over the regular price. The Lectionary ships with a second resource Catholic Daily Readings (U.S. Lectionary), which is a dynamic text, day-by-day, lectionary resource like the current dynamic text "Catholic Lectionary." You can add this resource to your homepage in place of Catholic Lectionary to view the daily readings in the official translation.

The screenshots below show the liturgical layout opened from the homepage using the dynamic text Catholic Daily Readings (U.S. Lectionary) (note dynamic text taken from the official translation, and the full Lectionary for Mass opened in the third tab behind it), and dynamic text resource and full lectionary side-by-side.

Also, when I update the Catholic Lectionary, I will be adding the link to Lectionary for Mass there as well, so that, even if you prefer to keep using another translation, the official text is easily available and opens behind the Missal. (I'll be adding more more years to it, and making some other corrections and updates as well.)

So glad we now have the official lectionary. When I prioritized it above "The Catholic Lectionary", I was expecting it to be used for the daily readings on the Home Page, but instead, the "Catholic Lectionary" remains as the one used. Is anyone else having this issue? Am I doing something incorrect?

You need a Ordo to mediate between the generic liturgical calendar and the actual secular date. All I would expect is for the current lectionary/ordo to add an option to draw the passage from the Lectionary rather than from a Bible. That will require a software change.

This is the purpose of the resource Catholic Daily Readings (U.S. Lectionary), which was included with the Lectionary for Mass. It's what mediates between the Lectionary for Mass and the secular date. (It is effectively an ordo that also brings in the dynamic text.)

You'll want to prioritize this resource above Catholic Lectionary. (Or go into the "Customize" menu on the homepage and check it instead of Catholic Lectionary.)

It will look pretty much the same as the Catholic Lectionary on your sidebar, but it will open displaying the official text, as I showed in the screenshot above.

Yes, that worked ... I had to close the current lectionary to get the menu to refresh to show the new lectionary as a possibility ... there may be a more obvious way to get the menu refreshed ...

Hmmm ... I'm lost (again) ...

I prioritized the Catholic Daily Readings above the Catholic Lectionary and it didn't seem to change anything for me. So I removed the Catholic Lectionary from the priority list and I'm still getting the old view when I click the liturgical date on the home screen. I also restarted Verbum to see if that made a difference. No change. Screen shots below.

Steve, there is also an addition to the Home Page Panel entries that you have to change to - if you click the gear in the top right corner, you probably see "Catholic Lectionary" checked, and at the bottom of the left column there is a new entry, Catholic Daily Readings (US Lectionary). Check that one and uncheck the other. For me the new one was ALSO checked, I had two in the left column of my Home Page - you may too and you just clicked the old one (the new one might already be checked and at the bottom).

Let me know if that makes sense/fixes it, if not I'll add some pictures to describe what I am trying to explain!

Sorry for the confusion. The homepage sidebar lectionary display was formerly controlled solely by prioritization, but since Verbum/Logos 6, it is controlled through the Customize menu. You may not have noticed if you haven't had reason to change your lectionary since then. (Prioritization should still control what results from the Go box.)

Yes there is - from the same drop down on the right side where all the sections are listed to be checked or not, just click and drag them in any order you like!

Hmm...I thought I had it. The homepage it is showing correctly with the Catholic Daily Readings (U.S. Lectionary), but when I click a reading, it is still opening up the old Lectionary. I do have The Catholic Daily Readings and US Lectionary prioritized above the Catholic Lectionary - not sure why it is opening up the wrong one still?

It should be opening Catholic Daily Readings (U.S. Lectionary)--this looks very similar to the old Catholic Lectionary: it lists the options for each day, links to the Missal and Lectionary, references for the readings just like Catholic Lectionary, but the dynamic text below comes from the official text instead from your Bible.

The full Lectionary for Mass resource is opened in a tab behind it.

That's really strange. I can't think of why that would be happening. Does it still do that if you close all panels and then reload everything from the homepage?

Thanks so much - it must have been a loading glitch or something. I restarted the software and now it appears to be loading the correct lectionary readings when clicked.
