Song formatting utterly and unusably broken with latest update

With the latest update (1.35.0.0147), we seem no longer to be able to insert a page break in a chorus or verse with ‘--’. Consequently, Proclaim is endeavouring to fit even very long choruses/verses on a single slide.

This is especially bad for us, as we try to keep the text to just four or five lines at the top of each slide, since our ceilings are fairly low and we need people to be able to see the words over the heads of other people.

This is an absolutely critical issue – please may we have a fix well before next Sunday?

As a follow-up, it looks like Proclaim will now split a verse/chorus across slides when it encounters a blank line. So, I have a work-around. Still, it would be good to have the ‘--’ behaviour back, not least for consistency, and so that we do not have to edit all of our existing song items before they can be re-used.

Hi, Daniel. You're correct that a blank line in a verse will create a slide break. We intended the "--" slide break to be used specifically on content service items, where a blank line will be rendered as a blank line instead of a slide break. Sorry about the confusion between service items!

Thank you for the response, and for the confirmation. In this case, it was the change in behaviour that was, for a few moments until I realized the workaround, particularly perturbing! (I don’t think this change was mentioned in the release notes – that would have been helpful.)

What is the work around you're using. I have the same problem with my entire database, which is very large. I don't want to have to go back and edit all the work I've already done. Thank you.

Hi Constance,

I replaced each instance of ‘--’ in each song with a blank line.

Regrettably, I don’t think there’s any way to avoid editing songs you’ve already formatted. At least it is a straightforward change. It is, of course, tedious to make this change on a large database of songs.
