Navarre NT (One vol. commentary) vs. Navarre standard (multi-volume) NT commentary

If any of you have both or have seen both, I'm just curious about the differences between the two. It looks to me like the one volume version is more recent and perhaps more abridged. Is that an accurate assessment? The one volume commentary is included in some Verbum 7 base packages.  For the multi-volume, either you purchase it separately or get Diamond+. Would the one volume version suffice - or is there a good reason to also get the multi-volume Navarre? Thanks for any input.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Thanks, MJ. It's fascinating to compare them this way. If we don't have the resource titles above, we might assume they were from two entirely different commentaries!

There was a previous thread on this topic that you might find interesting, too:

The short answer is that the one volume is definitely less extensive, but it's not a mere abridgement. Portions read very closely, but other portions are different.

Thanks to everyone. I chose to upgrade from Verbum 6 Master to Verbum 7 Gold. Getting a Verbum 7 base package qualified me for a 30% discount on the Navarre multi-volume commentary, so I bought that as well. Gold gives me the one volume Navarre NT, some of the Classics of Western Spirituality, a selection of CUA Fathers of the Church, and a few other things I wanted - but not too many things I didn't want or need!

If you buy a Verbum 7 base package through Logos.com, you qualify for substantial discounts on a number of big items that might not be listed as "Catholic" but might be of interest for anyone who doesn't have them already. For example: the Anchor Yale Bible commentary set and Great Books of the Western World are at 30 and 40% off, respectively. I haven't checked, but perhaps Sacra Pagina might also be offered at a nice discount.
