Payment plan change? FL issues with store possibly...

Ok, I got Logos Now so I haven't as yet purchased anything else. Base packages appear to add more things I wouldn't use than add things I would, and for now I am on the fence of purchasing the feature set.

So I am hand crafting some items that I would want, but payment plans do not seem to be available anymore? I do have the $100 minimum items in the cart so that is taken care of, but this statement in the FAQ's have me concerned:

Which orders qualify?

All orders over $100.00 (including tax and shipping) with a Logos 7 Library and/or Logos 7 Feature Set.

It states "with" a Logos 7 library\feature set. So us Now users that are "renting" the feature set and don't own a library base package or feature set from Logos 7 do not qualify for the payment plans?

Or is this just a bug in the store?

I am not aware of those who don't purchase a base package not being able to set up a payment plan. The only restrition is in regards to qualifying for an extended 20 month plan is that a Logos 7 package must be a part of the purchase.

Thanks for confirming OP's issue. I was not near a computer to test it out. Hopefully this is just a bug rather than a policy change.

I don't expect you'll have any difficulty, but if you find a library that doesn't show you the payment plan options you're expecting, let us know. It's possible that one of the SKUs got missed by mistake.

As a Logos Now member I have the option of not owning either, and at this time I do not want to. Base packages or the library only to me at this point is just buying a bunch of books to buy a bunch of books. I would rather at this point just pick and choose from here on out any resources I choose to really own, rather than to buy 500 and get 5 that I would want. And with my membership the Feature set owning is not a requirement to their use.

It still does.

All that's changed is that for a short time, you can buy Logos 7 (with or without the features) without requiring the larger downpayment, and you can have slightly longer terms. It's got nothing to do with Logos Now.

I think at the moment it does. The system sees I do not "own" a library, feature set or a base package that is designated as Logos 7 and is therefore not allowing me to setup a payment plan. I think this is wrong or a bug. Because we don't own that would mean anyone not doing the forementioned or Logos Now would also be unable to setup any type of payment plan for a random cart of books worth greater than $100. Guess it is one way to force Logos 5 or Logos 6 users to upgrade Logos 7 wise, but Logos Now users should be able to setup a payment plan as long as the cart total is over $100, regardless of what Logos 7 items we may or may not own.

No-one can add a collection of random books and get a special payment plan (you get the normal plan). What you already own is irrelevant. The only way you can get one of the special payment plans is if you're BUYING a Logos 7 Libray and/or Feature Set. That's the same for everyone.

Yes, you're quite right. I made the mistake of answering the theory of the question (eligibility for payment plans doesn't depend on L7 ownership), rather than the practice (the website isn't offering 'normal' payment plans to people, only 'L7 special payment plans'). Sorry about that.

I now see the same behaviour as everyone else, so I guess that's a bug with the website.

Why do some pay $112 and change for Full Features Set and some $116 and change. I have Logos Now and have seen other LN users pay the $112 but I had to pay $116 -- is there something different that factors in as to who gets the $112 price and others the $116?

We did revise the payment plan terms available at launch. These are the changes we made:

Prior to 8/22

Down payment was calculated to ensure 30% of the order was paid over the first 3 payments

Since 8/22

Orders need to meet the following requirements

Must be above $100
Must contain a Logos 7 Library or Logos 7 Feature Set

The down payments equals the monthly payment. (Order total / number of months in the plan) + $5 administration fee = monthly payment

A payment plan is offered based solely on the order requirements above. Library ownership and Logos Now membership play no role in whether a payment plan is offered.

I could not agree more, Justin. I NEVER EVER complain on these forums, mainly because I get sick and tired of the whining and un-Chirstlike behavior of a few folks in these forums, and, therefor, I try to cut the FL folks a well-deserved break. However, I must voice my concern here - this is simply bad business communications and the WRONG decision! How would anyone EVER know this change occurred? I wouldn't, without these late-night surfs of the forums. This is horrible business communication (or, I should say, a lack thereof).

Most every payment plan I have had in $25,000 worth of business over the years has been non-base package purchases. As such, FL stands to loose A TON (quite literally) of business from me. I leverage the payment plan feature because its the best way to spend my book budget from church. But I wont likely buy a base package because they seem to contain more and more public domain stuff with the advent of each new base package. As such, I guess I will be saving a TON of $$ once my current payment plan pays off.

I am very disappointed in both the change and the lack of communication concerning the change. There's no explaining it away...its just poor business practices.

I'm sorry to complain. I know this isnt the staff's fault, and we should all be careful not to take our frustrations out on them. This is a senior management decision.

The online store does not actually allow Faithlife to offer two kinds of new payment plans at the same time (with special terms due to L7 bps, and without). In order to offer a payment plan special for purchases of L7 bp's, Faithlife had to disable the ability to have new payment plans that do not include L7 bp's.
