System Requirements

The current listing for Logos 7 is:
- Windows 7 SP1
- 2GB RAM
- 1024x768 Display
- 30GB Free Space - Internal HDD/SSD Only (may require additional space depending on your library)
- Internet connection (for activation, updates, and some features)
They used to give specifications of processor, graphics processor, and such that seemed to fit a gaming computer more than a standard laptop.
Is Logos 7 more streamlined so that one would not have to buy a powerful computer for it to run well? Is a stand-alone graphics card still recommended (not a common feature in a laptop)?

I don't recall a lowering of specifications. However, many users seem to reach acceptable (for them) processing speed only with more performant hardware than the minimum. My experience is not that bad - using an old Acer laptop (see my specs in the footer).

Logos 7 is technically running the same platform as Logos 6.14, so it's not different. I think it runs well on my old computer which just barely meets the minimum requirements - that is my personal experience after installing a SSD which made the differnce between unusable and snappy (or: not caring and not actively recognizing whether indexer is running vs not being able to do anything at all while indexer was running, even if set to low priority). Not a powerful computer, but a fast disk I/O was the key in my case and many other users during L5 and L6.

Hm. Graphics comes as the bottlenck when I let Windows calculate the experience factor for my machine. Sometimes - not very often - it hangs - this is not Logos, streaming HD videos from e.g. YouTube may do the same. But there's no way to upgrade the graphics on my machine, so I need to live with that. Logos itself (except for video-driven courses) runs without issues in a dual-monitor setting for me.
Note that I sometimes experience Out-Of Memory crashes I wouldn't expect users running 64bit (and thus addressing more than 3GB memory) to see.
Have joy in the Lord!

I think when I saw that Logos recommended a graphics card and at least an i5 was for Logos 5. Maybe there was streamlining between 5 and 6.

Luke I would recommend (unless you plan to change computers every three years or more) get the best your budget can afford. A Ssd (library size determines how much space is required)make a major difference, 8 GB of Ram or more, and a fast processor (i5 or better).
Mission: To serve God as He desires.

For information, Logos 7 does not work very well with my config: Windows 7 + i3 + 4GB RAM. For example, L7 crashes when I want to edit the slides in the sermon editor. I have to close other programs to work with...

Please start another thread and provide as many details as possible - it may not be related to system specifications.

I Apologize. After some manipulations on my PC, Logos 7 works perfectly - including the editor of Sermon (and slides editor). [8-|]0 -
I have a Lenovo I3 computer with 8 gb of ram and a spinning hard drive and have decided the stress involved in waiting for it to unfreeze or crash has become to much. So I am looking at a new laptop with an SSD. Does anyone know how to determine how much drive space you need for resources, say 8500 books?
And will an Intel I5 work well or should I just pass out and buy an I7...LOL

HelpThere is a simple rule when purchasing a computer - buy the biggest fastest that you can afford the repayments on and then keep is until it becomes unusable.
the alternative is to buy one a year old (big and fast and cheap) and replace it every year.

Logos wiki includes Resource location => Copy Logos Resources to Mac OS X

CPU performance is relative to model and speed => http://browser.primatelabs.com/processor-benchmarks
Noticed i5-6600 @ 3.3 GHz being slightly faster than an i7-6700 @ 3.4 GHz for single core processing.
Keep Smiling [:)]

Thanks. I found out there some other differences/factors between the I5 and I7 that may have more of a role then my knowledge base can comprehend. The I7 has more cores, being a genuine quad core, and hyperthreads. The I5 has various configurations depending on its source and generation, is a quad core in name only, some of them use two 2 core processors instead of having a real quad core if I understand things correctly, and do not have a hyperthread capability. How those things affect running the Logos engine are beyond me. I went ahead and bought a I7 when I stumbled upon an incredible deal at Best Buy so...
