Logos 1 vs 4 alpha? Tutorials?

I am a Mac user and would like to purchase Logos 4, but I am a little uneasy with it being in the Alpha stage. Also, I am also a little concerned since this software & website really seems geared around the PC. That being said the PC version looks amazing. Based on web info it says I can use the older Logos 1 engine until Logos 4 is finished. However, I am having trouble finding out what features I would get with Logos 1 and any tutorials on how to use it.

Questions:

Can anyone comment on Logos 1 and features? Or point me to some tutorials, articles, screenshots?

How stable and functional is Logos 4? Also, do the PC tutorials apply to the MAC version? I understand there is a bit of a learning curve.

Finally, does anyone know when they will be getting to Beta or Final Release? Are we talking weeks or months? Forgive me for asking this but I have stage 4 cancer and just not sure how long I will be able to wait. Smile

I am also considering another application, but really like the features in Logos.

I really appreciate any info you can provide.

1) Off the top of my head, the one feature that Logos 1 has the Logos 4 does not have yet is the Exegetical Guide (however, that feature could be much more complete come Monday.) Also, your purchase allows you to use: The Windows Engine (on a VM or Windows computer you have), More books in the Iphone engine, and both Mac Engines, on as many devices as you use.

2) For me, Logos 4 has been relatively stable, but other people have different results.

3) Yes, the PC videos apply to the Mac Engine--as far as the Mac Engine is complete to this point

4) There is no official time line. The very loose date put forward by the CEO Bob Prittchet at the time of L4's launch in November was six months. And Logos is doing all they can to meet that goal. Just keep in mind that L4 windows has a lot of features L4 mac does not have yet. Some of the Mac features are also incomplete, so at this time things may be a little different. However when the engine is finished, things should work about the same

Okay I have purchased and have been using Logos 4 and all the features available seem to be working fine. So far I like what I see. Just wondering if I should install Logos 1. Does it have some of the missing features like text comparison & biblical places? Is there a link that tells me what the Logos 1 features are? Tutorials, etc.

It appears I have to purchase a Logos 1.2.2 disk containing the Logos 4 resources I have purchased to do this and not sure I should spend the $5. There isn't a way to just download these resources is there?...I found a link to download the PC files, but no MAC link.

Okay I figured out how to download the resources without purchasing the disk. I have Logos 1 up and running and everything seems to be working fine.
