Navigation for Tablet
I have become a table user and find it very enjoyable for study - just love it! I do realize that many do not have tablets but it can't hurt to give some thoughts. So, these thoughts are with the tablet in mind but could also be considered for general navigation.
Resource Toolbar
- Previous Next buttons - Would be great to add these back to the bar along with the drop down choices (Article, Bible Book/Chapter/Verse but most importantly Resource and Markup - it would be great if these choices would stick and remain as defaults - I primarily use it for Resource navigation, second would be Markup) In V3 I used gestures with this but the button alone would be great
- Parallel Resources Button - My understanding is that Prioritize sets the first handle of Resources in the Parallel Resource list. It would still be good to access the list quickly (with this button) to jump navigate to other resources further down the list. As well as just seeing where additional resources are in the list.
- Reference Location drop down arrow - My understanding is that Topics are being handled differently in the resources and other tools. I just wanted to voice my previous use of this function to quickly navigate through books to specific information - the power of what you are trying to achieve. At some point some education would be appreciated in understanding how to maximize these new concepts/tools for topic type navigation in resources. I used the topic browser a great deal. I am sure the new way will be beneficial I just don't get it yet. I may have missed something in the large quantity of posts.
Breadcrumbs TOC Bar Verse Navigation
It would be a great dream to add a little more to this...
- add "Verse" to the Book>Chapter>Verse breadcrumbs on the TOC Locator bar.
- Keep all three visible all the time (currently chapter goes away at certain locations)
- add smart drop down lists for all three so they could be clicked to navigate to locations in the Bible. Drop Down lists (menu) either accessed by clicking or hovering
I personal dream to quickly navigating with the tablet.
Zoom Slider for certain graphical resources
For resources like Infographics, Biblical Places, Things, and People (really great additions BTW) a zoom slider somewhere in the window to zoom in and out of these vector graphics. It could be faded and/or hidden like the navigation buttons in the InfoGraphics or always visible. Just something to zoom in and out when in tablet mode.
Shortcut bar
I am working on changing my thinking and practice away from toolbars. I do like the ability to customize some of my ways of working/navigating common tasks to the way I work. I know and remember you collecting this information for your research. Shortcuts are a good step forward but also leave out some more advanced ways of customizing that I appreciated and used. With the tablet it can be a good thing to have tool bars and yet there is also an issue of screen real estate for function - a tightrope you are already walking. The nice thing about toolbars is that you can turn them on or off and float them if you want to. It gives an individual some flexibility to adjust personal working methods and environment.
I have used bookmark buttons on a tool bar to set and locate bookmarks in resources. I am trying to move toward using Shortucts and this would help...
- In the pop-up for the shortcuts(a specific location shortcut) move the Bible reference(and resource ID) to the top/left instead of the bottom right. It will help to more quickly identify shortcut especially if there are multiple bible shortucts - the icons are the same and what may really be the problem is my memory. It takes longer for my eyes to scan down to find the reference to make sure this is the one I want to click to navigate. I do like the context of the versed in the pop-up I would just prefer the reference at the top instead of the bottom for the shortcuts - in other places at the end works better - places like the Cited By Tool, etc.
Library Find Box
In the Find box for the Library the TIP (Tablet Input Panel) icon/shorctut does not show. It does show in all the other text/input boxes which I've tested so far.

This is the only real "Probelmatic" area, so far. The others are more along the line of requests to make tablet use more functional/usable. Some more and some less.

I've tested so far. This is TIP icon (Vista) that pops up when you select an Input/Text box with the pen.
This is the TIP Icon showing properly when selecting an Input/Text Box. You then click the icon, which
opens the TIP which allows you to "ink" or hand write text into the
input/text box. Which is then inserted into the Input/Text Box. Example shown below is the proper function of TIP icon in the Search Window Find Box.So far, the only Input box where this does not work properly is the Library Find Box.

Add these Previous Next Buttons (mainly for navigating through Parallel Resources or markups) Need buttons for ease of Tablet navigation.

Add Parallel Resource Button (I do realize these additions do add "clutter" to the resource tool bar) But I hope it could be considered valuable clutter - especially for tablets.
