Option to delete previous version of layout when selected to Update active layout

I'd appreciate an option to simultaneously delete the previously current version of a layout when selecting to "Update active" layout. It seems like an unnecessary step to have to go back and the delete previous versions of a layout (since they're usually unwanted) when I choose the option to "Update Active" Layout.

Anyone else agree?

Im with MJ...when you update, the old version DOES go away. It is replaced with the UPDATED version. Unless there is something I am missing here. Can you explain further, or provide screenshots?

Process:

Started with my layout with all things Richard Baxter. last saved at 9:55PM

Then I open it, read a little more, make a highlight, and then choose the "Update active" layout option

And then after I click it, I go back to the layout menu and now there's two. My original active layout from 9:55, and the new updated one from 10:02

Ah, you are referring to the snapshots side of the menu rather than the saved layouts side of the menu. No, you have no ability to remove snapshots ... they are simply the last 15(?) or so snapshots giving you the ability to recover from unintended saves or saves under wrong name etc.

The way that the layout system works seems to be peculiar ...

I would also like to have the ability to delete ... automatcially ... all 'snapshots' and 'app closures' older than x days ... where i define x.

I would also like to see a longer menu ... and perhaps grouping within the menus so that I can have my own topic studies in one group, admin (tagging) tasks in another, and devotional time in a third. We already have quick start and homepage layouts, so this should be feasible.

It would be nice is they came with Santa!

You can achieve that by naming convention Topic: layout name; Admin: layout name; Devotional: layout name ... I suspect that the percentage of users who have enough layouts to justify the feature is very small ... but I would use it if it were made available.

Yes you do, you can either right click and delete them, or press the blue delete button. So I guess I should change the suggestion to Option to delete previous snapshot when updating active layout.

Yep, I was (unfortunately) reminded of that a few minutes ago when I accidently deleted my counseling layout 15 minutes before a counseling appointment [:S]

After considering the options more...

If these are simply "snapshots" then why does deleting them delete the "layout" if there's only one snapshot left? There should be a distinction between snapshot and layout when deleting, to prevent accidentally deleting the layout while thinking your only deleting a snapshot.
