Will not allow update: BUG

I am an administrator user.

Version 1.35.0.0209 is available...

"When I click update, I get the message: The selected user does not have sufficient privileges to complete the setup. Please choose Administrator from the Run As... Dialog"

I have seen this before and I have been forced to going to proclaimonline and downloading and running the updater. in this case, when I do that, it gives the same error.

I ALSO tried Run As Administrator for the updater - same error

I ALSO tried Run As Administrator when launching Proclaim for the clickonce update - same error.

sadly, I can not update proclaim, at this point on this computer.

Brent, is this the first time this has happened? If you could send us a copy of your installer logs we'll have a look.

I'd recommend running Windows Update to make sure that you have the correct permissions to install updates and are up-to-date with the latest version.

I did, actually verify that there were no updates, nor any in progress (ran into that before with a L7 update).4863.New Compressed (zipped) Folder.zip

We're taking a look at the installer log, thanks for posting Brent. Are you trying to install Proclaim from a network drive?

Here's a quick and easy solution to try: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/299357

Run command prompt as an administrator.
Type "netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt"
Restart your computer.

Looks like several people experiencing this same error code in other apps have successfully resolved it by clearing their TCP/IP stack.

followed the above:

ran CMD as administrator
typed and launched - netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt (though no resetlog.txt can be found at the root of C:)

C:\WINDOWS\system32>netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
Resetting Interface, OK!
Resetting , failed.
Access is denied.

Resetting , OK!
Restart the computer to complete this action.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>

launched proclaim from shorcut - same error
launched proclaim from shortcut as administrator - same error
went to proclaimonline and downloaded the installer again, and launched - same error
launched as administrator - same error.

Interesting, I get a different output than you when I run the same command:

It looks like you're still getting "Access is denied" so I'm not sure if it's working. We'll follow up on this with our technical support department to see if they have any information. It's worth trying the steps in this article to ensure permissions are correct on that folder.

I have done this before when working with LOGOS and similar issue on another computer, so am very familiar with this process. I have tried this here, and still get the same error message (also trying again all the run as options).

contacting Microsoft - uhm, yeah, that's not going to happen. uhm, hello tech support? yea, I don't have any problems with my OS in anything except for one application, and they say that it is in the operating system permissions - sorry, that won't fly. I have been in IT management for too long.

yes, had the problem with libronix under Vista. what a fiasco... i could never get that to work consistently (though everything else on that computer worked) when there was updates. fully reinstalled logos when I upgraded to Win7. and upgraded two major OS versions with Logos updates working fine. This current computer started with 8x64, now has 10 - installed Logos 5 (I think) on 8., upgraded to L6 and now to 7 (on win10). have had only minor Direct x issues with USB video adaptors that has since been resolved - everything else works. I do have a Buffalo NAS box, but nothing Logos is on the network, and per MS recommendation (not a "local account"), I use my microsoft account email ID when logging into the computer.

While L7 is my primary app, I do run a host of other applications with no problems at all.

there was a problem with L6 on another computer that I had to delete and re-add owner for the logos directory - and yes, when I did that process, it worked again (though, again, on another computer).

I still have a problem with the computer at church and proclaim too. similar situation as this, and had been happening since the second update after I bought Proclaim. it was permanently worked around (It is not fixed), by editing proclaim properties so that it only launches as administrator.

recap: - the issue with this computer remains, I get the above error, and have not been able to update (currently 1.35.0.0200) - the other computer with an issue is in "permanent workaround mode" (properties set to launch as administrator, always) - and is acceptable for now, and not to be confused with this issue.
