Why Upgrade?

I probably missed a thread on this subject, but I have to ask the question, why upgrade from 6 to 7?

As a very long user of Logos (probably close to 20 years now) I had trouble seeing the need to upgrade from 5 to 6 and now I am getting regular emails trying to convince me to purchase another upgrade "personalized" for me.

I actually ugraded from 5 to 6 to help keep Logos and FaithLife in business providing us with digitalized content and support for the software suite. So far I'm at loss to see a benefit in 7 over 6, and yes I have reviewed all the features availble in 7.

What I would like to see is how does 7 improve the speed, accessibility, cross-platform abilities with iOS and other software features over 6. As far as content goes and all those "personalized" packages that will cost me hundreds of additional dollars, I'm not really interested.

I guess what I'm really trying to write about is the pressure Logos is applying to "upgrade" and spend more dollars for stuff I don't need.

Overall I'm very thankful and use my Logos product basically every day for study and insperation.

Well, in answer to your question, para 4, it doesn't.

In my setup (multi-window, 100+ resources open), it's really beginning to drag badly. I think Logos5 hit the sweet spot (for me). I'd of been smart to close the book at L5.

But relative to mobile inter-operabilty, my impression is, not in the cards. They can barely keep track of a single device (vs multiple copies). I still can't buy a Logos resource with any hope I can see it on my iOS without major surgery. Kindle, it's seconds and I'm reading.

That said, you should buy the smaller features package just for MultiView. Try it out. Then get a refund if not impressed. It should have been intro'd in Logos4.

Thank you John and Denise - I have been asking myself the same questions and coming up with the same answers. I only see one or two features that I would like to try in Logos 7, but they are not all available in the smaller package. So for now, I am resisting making any sort of upgrade to 7 and am holding onto 6.

To upgrade or not to upgrade ? Honestly depends on value added for Bible Study plus God's provision and timing for peaceful acquisition.

Topical search in a larger library finds more results (and viewpoints) to consider.

One way to search Logos 7 Base Packages is sorted by Lowest Price followed by looking for highest % off within a level since already own most of those resources. Note: Base Package dynamic prices include Feature Set.

Concur prudent to expand library with useful resources, which could be a much lower level than previously purchased. For example, the Modern English Version (MEV) Bible is included in the Logos 7 P&C Starter Library (so my dynamic upgrade of $ 36.12 for library resources includes $ 23.99 MEV plus 36 more resources)

Personally dreaming of => Suggestion: "Gem" superset of Base Packages along with praying for God's calling in my life for work that glorifies Him.

Overall I'm very thankful and use my Logos product basically every day for study and insperation.

Yes the "value added" is the issue, but I'm not sure what you mean by "peaceful acquisition."

As far as pressure goes, they are a business but the choice is always yours. I always look at the personalized offers emails, if I like what I see and I need it, I buy it, if not, I don't buy - end of the story. I don't buy into the "pressure" vacuum of any business, no one should; especially emails lol is not like they're actually talking to you, they are automated.

The great thing about Logos is that you don't need to upgrade and you don't lose any functionality and you will continue to be able to use and sync between mobile.

Some of the new features of Logos 7 are very nice over Logos 6. It may seem like a small thing but the new text comparison feature for me has changed the way I use the software and was worth the upgrade. There may be other features that make it worth it for you.

However, the no brainer reason for me to upgrade was that there were resources that I wanted in the new base packages that were cheaper for me to purchase as part of a base package compared to just buying outright. So in essence the upgrade to Logos 7 was free just because I wanted to buy Jonathan Edwards' Works.

I have L6 Collector's and L7 Collector's had TDOT, some Commentaries to complete my sets for now and Cornerstone Commentaries that were on my wish list. So, it made since for me to upgrade because it was cheaper than buying the resources outright. Since I upgraded to L7 Collector's most other base packages are heavily discounted or because I own the L6 versions. Either way I upgraded to L7 Baptist Portfolio and will be upgrading to several other packages.

DAL, I see sales pressure as 'not a business'. It presumes customers aren't too swift, and there's lots of them (since customers keep getting angry).

My 'junk' email folder is almost totally Bible software companies .... 3. I turned Logos off, or there'd be 4. I actually like the emails; I just don't like stupidity ... day after day. Bunches. So, I never see them.

Again I really like, no love is a better word, Logos Bible Software and use it daily.

I'm going to hold off right now spending money on version 7 until some more water goes under the bridge. The best way I can think of supporting Logos is to purchase the digitalized books as the publish them. I literally have a library of texts which fit on my lap.

What generation has so much avialable to them to learn about God and walk with Him in the history of creation?
