My Avondale Seminary lecturer said they would officially release the new SDA Commentary at the next General Conference Session,
So how many total volumes will be in the set? If 44, like the ECC, and at $30 per that comes to $1300.
Out of my range when the current, out of date, set was selling for $145. [At this time will only buy Danial and Revelation]
Also my local church would not buy a set for the church at that price. [Who is their target audience?]

Spoke to a Union president today. His wife set up our Festival of Hymns that we celebrated today.
He stated that they were still saying that it was being worked on but he had seen nothing to back that up.

Thanks for the update.

I would like to suggest we take up a 13th Sabbathschool offering, pay the cost of the commentary in full for it, and put the new Adventist commentary into the public domain. Of course I want it in Logos, but what about the millions who don’t have Logos? What about our brothers and sisters in impoverished situations around the world? In the dark ages, the Bible was chained to the convent wall, a privilege only for the elite. Satan has plenty of “Bible commentary” freely available for all search engines online… why must we reserve the best of our biblical scholarship only for the rich elite and keep it out of reach generally speaking for the average church member around the world? There is plenty of misinformation about Adventist theology, let’s ”show our hand” so that our antagonists have to do research based upon our actual teachings! Let’s do this brothers and sisters!

The old one was under $200.
If 44 volumes at $35 each that is about $1500 or almost 10 times the price of the old one. Yes, only for the "rich elite"!!!
(Have not seen any of the new ones but the old one went verse by verse. How does the new one read?)

Volume 6 Psalms, Proverbs, Eccl. and Song of Songs is now available in print. It would sure be nice to see them in Logos.

Lyden, have you heard anymore about the first volume of the international commentary being put in by Faith Life yet?

Lynden, I just noticed that the first book for the international Bible commentary has been published at the end of this last year. Have you heard anything about whether Faith Life might be considering putting it in to Logos?

No I have not heard anything.

Is/will SDA International Bible Commentary be published by Andrews University Press?
If so, Faith Life initiated already The Andrews Bible Commentary (2 vols.). I've just preordered it. It is listed as gathering interest. Hope more preorder this one.

As for the SDAIBC I suppose Faith Life might initiate the same procedure (volume by volume) and once enough people preorder it they will release it in Logos. Shall we write Logos that we want this?

Thanks Stoyan, I appreciate the heads up. I will have to check into this one most definitely. Thanks much, Richard

By the way, Richard, the list price of Andrews Bible commentary hard copy set is $139.99, while the preorder from Faith Life is only $60.99. This is a very substantial discount.
This could mean that if Faith Life releases SDAIBC, it will be substantially discounted upon preorder.
v.6 Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Songs of Songs hard copy costs $59.99, so something like $40 makes sense.
SDAIBC is supposed to consist from 15 volumes. 2 are already released with 2 more this year and then 3 each consecutive year. Something like by 2027 we can have the whole collection as hard copies.
SDAIBC is published by Pacific Press, while Andrews Bible commentary by Andrews University Press. It seems to me that Faith Life releases a lot from Andrews University Press (292 hits on Logos site), while I see (almost) nothing from Pacific Press at Logos. Hopefully an agreement can be reached about the SDAIBC and then I am sure many will preorder (me included).

It's 2024 and I'm still waiting. It might be interesting to start a campaign for Logos to release the volumes that are already available.

Filkarane, it seems logos releases something, only if enough people preorder it. For example, although the Andrews Bible commentary has strong interest, still is far away to reach enough preorders half an year later.
I am wondering if SDAIBC can collect enough preorders. Still we should try. How can the process of preorders be initiated?
As for the Andrews Bible commentary, I preordered it for $60.99. It seems it was Logos mistake, because the preorder now is about double - $110.99.

I was wondering that as well Stoyan. I've been looking at the books for SDAIBC, but love to order them from Logos. I also preordered the Andrews Bible commentary at the same price you did. I was wishing there was more interest as well so I could get mine. The publishing company's I imagine won't promote it that way because they would loose money.[:(]

I don't think there is even a contract for the commentary. We first need to get Pacific Press to agree for it to be published in Logos. If you have any connections see if you can get a conversation going.

I'll think on that Lynden. My son used to work there a number of moons ago. But he know works for the Minnesota conference. So I don't have the connections I once did. I will think about the people I know. If there is anyone else out there that has a passion for seeing IBC in Logos and has some contacts, let them know our New Years Wish!!!![:D]

I also preordered the Andrews Bible commentary but it doesn't seem to be moving forward. Interestingly, this quarter, we will experience a little of the theological potential to analyze Psalms of Dragoslava Santrac phD in the Sabbath School Lesson.

Do you have Volume 6 (Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs) of SDAIBC? I wonder if anyone has read it.

Was not aware that it was even published. Went to Adventist Book Centre and see that they have a number of volumes from the set.

This is what I am seeing. Don't see the one for Genesis. https://adventistbookcenter.com/catalogsearch/result?q=sda%20international%20bible%20commentary
Maybe Logos can get a contractual agreement and release them as they are published.

Genesis was published a while ago, but I think not as part of the SDAIBC. I suppose they will add few more from the Moses' books to it and this will be Volume 1. I hope the Prophets come soon.

In Adventist Book Center Germany, all 4 are listed (Volume 6 is out of stock).

Do you have any clout with Logos to get the process started Lynden?
