Video broke half way though service this morning.

Hi, we had a 2 minute video to play this morning, which was uploaded during the week and had been played twice before the service to show various people that it was working.

When I came to play the video during the service the play button had disappeared from the video in preview/edit mode and it would not auto play.

I added the video to the playlist again, but still nothing.

Had to close and re-open proclaim in order to get the video to play.

We had the same issue this morning, including testing it before service. Funny enough, we just updated Proclaim on Thursday or Friday of this past week, which seems to be something that happens regularly. We update Proclaim every couple of months, and this happens the following Sunday. We did the same thing to make it work again.

Unfortunately video playback issues are almost always hardware related and there's not much we can do about it. We recommend 1GB dedicated RAM and avoiding integrated Intel graphics cards. Also worth making sure you're all up to date with Windows Update and even checking your video card manufacturer's site for updates.

So, what would you recommend for a Mac. I have a hard time believing it's a hardware problem when every other software we use works fine, and this isn't the first time. I still haven't had a solid answer to the other two times this has happened.

We receive very few reports related to video playback issues on Mac. The only I can remember were related to improperly encoded videos. I expect this is due mainly to the well tested and reasonably powerful hardware configurations available in that closed system.

That being said, the majority of Proclaim users are on Windows systems and run Proclaim without video playback issues. It's a very difficult problem to diagnose with the vast number of potential hardware/driver configurations out there.

One additional thing you could try is disabling hardware acceleration and see if the problem persists. This setting is something that might be unique with respect to video playback in Proclaim vs other apps on your system. Also, curious what video hardware you're working with, if you could post your dxdiag log I'd be interested to take a look.
