Date Field on Announcement service item format has changed

I used to be able to specify a date without the year being shown e.g. "Sunday, January 1", but now it seems the format has changed to include the year e.g. "Sunday, January 1, 2017". Personally I would prefer the option of not showing the day-of-week either, but at least I prefer the old format over the new. And while you're at it, how about some more flexibility in the formatting? Such as abbreviating the month. and using the presentation date or the current date. I know I can use a custom field or the location field, but these are all things a "Date" field should do.

Thanks

Thanks for the report Brendon, I can't think of why this change would have occurred. I'll investigate further.

    Thanks Scott.

I have a template presentation that contains an announcement slide with a date field that looks like this:

I click the dropdown next to the date, click on "today" in the "from" month, select my date, clcik on"today"in the "to" month, select the same date. hit enter, delete the comma and year from the data screen and get this:

As you can see from the first picture, this worked up until recently, now I can't seem to get the year off. And have been forced to use a custom field to get what I want.

    Brendon -

Thanks for the report! I was able to track this down and in the current code (that you have) if the date of the announcement is in a different year than the date of the presentation, we display the year in the slide. Such as your Dec 25 presentation date has the Jan 1, 2017 announcement - we simply are comparing 2016 and 2017...

I will be making a change to only show the year in the slide if the date of the announcement is over 365 days away from the presentation date. I don't have a date as to when this will be shipped.

As far as additional formatting, I'll bring that up with the dev and design team.

    Thanks

    Glenn

That was it, I changed the presentation date and all is good.

I look forward to improvments in specifying and formatting the date field.

    Thanks,
