audio problems. bah. can this be fixed? (not sure if bug or configuration issue)

so... Normally my messages at church are recorded on the computer in the media booth and everything works great. I was at a camp for young adults teaching stewardship and budgeting, and recorded on the laptop I use to create most of my presentations in Proclaim. This was the first time I actually "ran" a presentation from this system. augh.

1st - i don't suppose this can be "fixed"?

2nd, if not, I'll survive, but what do I need to do so this doesn't happen again?

I'm sorry for the problem. Are the audio problems manifest on the machine that did the recording or another machine the recording syncs to? If the recording only sounds poor after it is synced to another machine then there might be a problem with Proclaim, but if the audio is bad on the recorded machine then there was likely a problem during the recording process.

The best way to test this sort of thing is to do a test recording prior to going life, and after everything is setup the way it will be during recording. If you go to Settings>Audio, you'll see some audio controls and a Sample record option. I would use that and to test audio playback. That should tell you how the audio is sounding.

It would be interesting to listen to what the original wav file sounds like. You can find this on the computer you recorded with.

Hack: editing your sermon audio files beyond Proclaim

If this file sounds fine, then something happened with the compression we use when we publish. If this also sounds weird then it might be a problem with the audio interface. Since these are raw PCM data we are recording. Sometimes an input source can be configured incorrectly which can cause issues in Proclaim.

well. checked the cached WAV files locally and it sounds the same. I guess I need to find out why it recorded like that, next. it records bad when doing the test, using the built in microphone.
