I've tried using the workaround on the wiki page, but I'm unable to get it to work. I'm attempting to place a hyperlink to a certain spot in a commentary in one of my note files. Anyone have any ideas? I'm running 4.0c Beta 1.
It's working for me.... Just to confirm your process you...
If it doesn't work, close Logos, go back to the word processor and ctrl+click the link you just made does it open Logos at all?
If it doesn't (or if it opens Logos) you will need to check your registry for the key needed to make the hyperlink protocol work.
hi Kevin,
Ya...unfortunately none of that works. No open commentary, no opening of Logos from the word processor...nothing.
What does Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE HE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 in your post mean? I don't have any of that going on in my hyperlinking process.....
So what's the deal with the registry? I really hate to mess with that...
Thanks!
I just searched my registry for this key and it doesn't seem to exist...
For some reason whenever you past text in from Word it shows up. It's annoying and I couldn't get it to go away without retyping my whole post.
If the registry key is there Windows won't know what to do with the hyperlink protocol. It's really odd that it isn't in your registry, do you run any registry cleaners etc? Or perhaps uninstalling Libronix could have purged the key...
I'm not certain I'm confident enough to catch all the details in directing you how to manually add the key... perhaps someone else could direct you how.
OR, you could install Libronix (don't worry about loading resources) and then follow the instructions on the wiki page to modify the key to point toward Logos 4.
Hi Kevin,
Well, I adjusted the registry and got it to work...both ways! Within an L4 note the hyperlink to my commentary works correctly. With L4 closed, the hyperlink within my word processor also successfully opens L4 to the correct point in the commentary. The only oddity is that when I click the hyperlink to my commentary from within an L4 note, the L4 startup logo appears briefly and then disappears just before the commentary opens up to the correct point. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks again for the help!
I don't think there's anything that can be done about the Logos splash screen showing up. It must have something to do with the way Windows sends the hyperlink to the program. So, if this is to change it'd have to be a change in the code (I don't know if that's even possible)
Regarding your comments on the need for a registry hack... technically the programs are working as they should. Both set up the LibronixDLS protocol to go to them. It just depends on which one installed last determines who get's the place in the registry. I do wish, however, that Logos would modify the updates to check for and restore the libronixdls protocol to Logos 4 if Libronix has taken it back.
I'll update the wiki to include a note about what to do if the key is missing from the registry as in your case.
Thanks again. Ya, I can definitely live with the splash screen, I was more just curious about it. Since you're going to update the Wiki, I though this info might be beneficial to you. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and I found the culprit registry key here:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Classes\libronixdls\shell\open\command
It was identical to the HKCU key you mention on the Wiki, but was located in HKCR. I altered it and, as I mentioned, everything seems to be working fine.
