Performance decrease for editing slides

I see that v2.2 claims to have "Performance improvements for rendering slides in edit view." I'm finding just the opposite on my desktop computer (Windows 7 64-bit).

I upgraded to the latest version tonight (v2.2.0.0016), and I'm finding it super slow to edit a song. I'm in Edit mode, and not On Air. Every time I make an adjustment to song lyrics, the preview panes are refreshing, and my cursor in the edit field lags. I have to stop and wait a second or more for it to catch up. Even typing in the Notes tab causes this response (though the notes don't appear in the slides, so I'm not sure why it would have any impact). I rebooted and tried again, but the issue persisted.

I tried to rule out an issue with this one computer, by doing the same thing from my laptop (Windows 7) which had Proclaim 2.1.0.0028 installed. I powered it on, tested Proclaim, and didn't experience the lag. I then added one new song and got it tweaked to my liking without experiencing any lag. So far, so good. I then installed the latest version on the laptop, and tried again. I edited an existing song, and added a new song, and didn't experience the issue at all.

It seems to be limited to my desktop computer. This issue was occurring a week and a half ago, though. Is anyone else having a similar problem? Any idea what's going on? I'm hesitant to upgrade Proclaim on the presentation computer (not one of the two mentioned here) in case it will experience this issue.

Paul, please use the Help menu in Proclaim to save your log files from your desktop computer and attach them to this thread. This will allow us to diagnose further.

Here are the logs that I saved at the time that I made the original post.

Paul, thanks for the logs. Something to try

    1. Use Windows File Explorer to navigate to C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Proclaim\Data\olbk5qt5.qc3\SlideCacheManager
    2. You should see a file name SlideCachManager.db in that folder. Rename it to SlideCachManager.db.OLD
    3. Restart Proclaim

This will cause the cache to be rebuilt which may increase your performance. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for working with me to try to figure this out, Scott.

I followed these instructions, but it did not resolve the issue. Here's what I did:

    • Launched Proclaim, and did not update.
    • Confirmed the issue from last week still existed.
    • Exited Proclaim.
    • Renamed SlideCacheManager.db in C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Proclaim\Data\olbk5qt5.qc3\SlideCacheManager
    • Launched Proclaim.
    • Saw a new SlideCacheManager.db appear in that folder.
    • Tested: issue remained.
    • Exited Proclaim.
    • Updated Proclaim to v2.2.0.0023.
    • Tested: issue remained.
    • Exited Proclaim.
    • Renamed SlideCacheManager.db in C:\Users\Paul\AppData\Local\Proclaim\Data\olbk5qt5.qc3\SlideCacheManager
    • Launched Proclaim.
    • Saw a new SlideCacheManager.db appear in that folder.
    • Tested: issue remained.
    • Exited Proclaim.
    • Disabled AVG's protection.
    • Launched Proclaim.
    • Tested: issue remained.

New logs are attached.8880.Proclaim Logs 2.zip

We shipped a new version of Proclaim yesterday that we believe should resolve the latency described here. You won't be prompted to update in the app, but can update to the newest version at proclaimonline.com/download.

This is still an issue. I'm on version 3.1.0.0100 and it has continued to be an issue and seems to have worsened again in the last few months.

In edit mode I highlight a line of text and it freezes as it refreshes the preview on the side and bottom bar.  Very frustrating as I have to highlight every other line for our bilingual slides and I used to be able to breeze through it but now it takes 10x longer.
