Play DVD

IS there any way to play a DVD from the computer used to control Proclaim from within the presentation software? We have a promotional video for a six-week study we want to play, but it is a DVD-based study and we do not have digital files of the videos to import into Proclaim. We are a small church and do not have a switcher to quickly change inputs to the projection system, so it would be handy to be able to insert the video by telling proclaim to play it from the DVD drive of the computer.

Proclaim does not have a way to play DVDs. I would suggest playing the dvd from the computer running Proclaim and then switching to the dvd player app when you want to show the dvd and then back to Proclaim. That does require that you have a dvd drive on your computer though..
Sorry for the inconvenience

I thought that was probably the only way to do what we need. It is so cumbersome, as we will have to exit Proclaim, then select the correct track from the DVD, play the DVD, then restart the Presentation and hope Proclaim resumes with the correct slide in the presentation. Ours is such a small congregation, we have just one computer (no confidence monitor set up) and that means a special training for the person at the sound booth to know what is going to need to take place.

I use a 3rd party DVD ripper (either WinX or Handbrake) to create .mp4 files and then upload the one I want as a video. So far I've had no problem. Sometimes you have to do a little dectective work to find out which file is the one you want, but paying attention to the length of the track usually narrows it down.

You dont have to go off air to switch to the dvd. You can go to the exact spot in the dvd you want to play, then make it fullscreen on the screen you use for slides. Then go OnAir with proclaim.
When you get to the spot in service, use alt+tab to switch to the DVD player. Press space bar to play and pause the dvd so nobody sees the mouse on the screen. when it is over you can alt+tab back to the window called Proclaim slides. In this screenshot Movies and TV is the app that I have fullscreen on my display for the congregation.
This will be fairly seamless without ever taking Proclaim off air.

Thanks, I'm going to try that next time, it might save me some time.

Thank you, Jordan. I will try out this procedure. I was unaware of how to switch between the two programs without causing a visually disruptive mess on the screen. Great to learn the easy ways to do things like this. You've been a great help.

Just a heads up, not all video players recognize the space bar to play/pause (e.g. Acer ClearFi).
