7.8 Beta 3 (7.8.0.0013) is Now Available
To immediately update to the current beta enter the Update Now command. Otherwise, the app will automatically update the next time it's scheduled to check for updates.
In this release, we made significant changes to how the indexer interacts with the application. Please let us know if you discover any problems.

From Release Notes: "CTRL/CMD+Shift+T will now reopen the last closed tab"
Thank you so much for this ability. However, on the Mac at least, there are two hiccups:
1) It will not restore the closed tab to the active panel. Thus, if you accidentally close a tab in a panel, and immediately hit CMD-Shift-T, it reopens the tab in some other panel. Vice-versa, if you close a tab and then switch to another panel, then it will reopen the closed tab in the original panel.
There is another other oddity as well. I opened Atlas in a new floating window. I added other tabs to the same. I closed Atlas and tried reopening. It reopened in a totally new window again.
2) Is there any reason, on the Mac, that CMD-T doesn't open a new tab? CTRL-T on the Windows side does open a new tab. There is a lack of consistency here, especially seeing as how now CMD-Shift-T is reopen tab.

Given the complexities of the layout system, properly supporting the restoration of the panel to its original position would likely delay the release of this feature to 7.9 (or possibly prevent the release of this feature at all in the near future). It seemed more useful to release the feature now in its current form. I don't have any estimate as to when or if improvements to this feature might be made.

Nope. I just opened a passage guide from the Tools menu, closed it, reopened it and it appeared in a different than default panel. Same with Search, Factbook. It does work as you say with the Tools that open in a sidebar, like Information or Cited By.
Check on that issue—why doesn't it open in the active panel?
It seemed more useful to release the feature now in its current form
Yes, I agree. But I wanted to clarify that my issue isn't quite what you described. It refuses to open in the active panel, even if that is the default panel for that particular tool or resource.

This has been fixed with 7.8 Beta 4 (7.8.0.0015).
