Issues with Logos 4 Mac

I've been away from Logos 4 Mac for several weeks. I installed A17 last night and have at least the following issues (probably more, but these are what I care about at the moment)

1. New books I purchased since the last time I used Logos 4 Mac alpha are not being downloaded

2. BWS causes Logos to crash.

3. Scan function still doesn't work

Welcome back. At the risk of "telling my grandmother how to suck eggs", may I suggest:

Typing Update Resources in the command bar.
I'm not sure what you mean by BWS.

Hi Otto

I too suffered with not being able to get hold of books I purchased.

I went to preferences and found that 'use internet' was turned off (not by me I might add). Turning it on has made my computer work really hard downloading and indexing a lot of stuff I was waiting for.

Have a look at your system.

Console Messages includes Stack Trace after nil object message:

4/9/10 12:23:26 AM Logos Bible Software 4[512] Exception NSInvalidArgumentException: *** -[NSCFArray initWithObjects:count:]: attempt to insert nil object at objects[1]

After Bible Word Study (BWS) crashed, Logos 4 launched again => overwrote Logos4.log and Indexer.log files.

If crash repeatable, please include how to repeat. Forum post http://community.logos.com/forums/t/15082.aspx has example - repeated by couple others, including Logos.

I did try typing "update resources" in an attempt to get my new books to download - they appeared to download (~ 568 MB of "something" was downloaded after the A17 installation), but my new books aren't listed in my library nor do they appear in Layouts I created with them in Windows Logos 4.

I followed Tom's advice on using the Scan function. I'm trying to import the remaining LSF/LIX Logos 2.0 resources that I have in my Library. These resources are recognized by Windows Logos 4 / Logos 3, Mac Logos 1, but not Mac Logos 4. So my issue may not be with the Scan function, but with the Mac L4 not recognizing Logos 2.0 resources.

Mac L4 crashes on me during Bible Word Study (BWS) in the following manner:

I initiate a BWS form NASB95 Rom 8:29 by right-clicking on the word "foreknew" and selecting its lemma (προγινώσκω). I get a translation ring like the one below (image taken from Windows L4)

From the translation ring, clicking on the words "foreknew," "known," and "foreknow" displays the scripture reference results below the ring (as shown above). However, with clicking on "knowing...beforehand," the scripture references no longer displays below the ring, even when I click on the words around the ring that were working earlier. At this point, if I try to exit BWS, my system crashes. But if I don't click on "knowing...beforehand" to open the ring, the other parts of the ring continue to function normally and I can exit BWS without crashing.

I run Mac L4 alpha on a cloned drive at home; I'm at work now, so I don't have access to it to send images. But this problem was repeatable.

Repeatable nil object issue in Bible Word Study. Launched Logos 4 to Home Page => Library => NASB (remembered Rom 8:26 from previous visit) - right click "foreknew" - left click lemma - left click Bible Word Study:

Hovering mouse over "knowing ... beforehand" causes pop-up to appear - clicking segment causes nil object error:

Console Messages has nil object message with stack trace - A17 BWS spinning wheel keeps on spinning until quit application:

Update:

I now have my new books (purchased since the last time I used Mac L4 Alpha - A13). I'm still missing 2.0 resources. And BWS still locks up under the scenario I described above:

I just checked in the fix for the Bible Word Study.

Everything should work fine in Alpha 18.
