Is there a way to work in Proclaim offline and then have it sync everything when done? I ask because for things like editing songs, it is quite time consuming. Still, it is nice to be able to edit though.
You should be able to edit everything, even while not having internet connection. Proclaim will be saving all your changes locally and will sync eventually when it gets an internet connection. Are you experiencing delays while not having an internet connection?
We had some reports of people having small hangs while editing large songs on Windows and we recently shipped some updates that moved some things to the background. First reports from people with the new version sounded promising. Are you up to date?
Also just realized I have been posting from my non-employee account [:$]
I am actually talking about wanting to take Proclaim offline in order to edti, not about working when there is not internet connection.
How do I take it offline?
No major problems, just always slow to accept any edits when online. In other words, I start typing a new line for a song and I can't even finish the first word before syncing starts and I am done typing before the words actually show up.
Ah, well there is no way to take Proclaim offline explicitly, however that should not be causing the issues you are seeing.
I misspoke earlier when I said we had shipped the update. We actually just posted it to our website.
Could you go to https://proclaimonline.com/download and download the newest version. You should be able to just install it right over your existing Proclaim like an update. We made changes in this version to move some expensive database writes to the background, which should help the lag you are seeing.
Also, just to be clear, you are seeing a delay in your text showing up on the left pane?
Yes, that's correct, on the left. At the same time, I see the syncing progress circle in the images on the right.
To be clear, the slow response I was writing about was not just Sunday. That was major and prevented doing anything. I am talking about everytime and anytime I am working on a presentation for an upcoming Sunday. Editing a song is very slow. If the update doesn't help, I would be better off to disconnect the Ethernet cable, do the work and reconnect.
As an alternative, is there some way you can put in an option to take Proclaim offline, sort of like one can do say with Microsoft Outlook?
I really don't think its the internet that is making it slow. The blue spinner on the slide is for slide generation, not syncing. Which is all local to your computer.
Have you turned your internet off and verified that the syncing is what is making Proclaim lag? I really don't think it will affect it.
Is this lagging new? Or within the last few months to a year?
Its been that way as long as I can recall. I cannot speak to the computer at church which we actually use for the presentation because it is used only for that. The work done on the presentation is done from other computers away from the church.
I'll have some editing to do in the next week or so and I can check w/o an internet connection, or I can just do some trial and error. I did try after the update you suggested and there was no difference, still slow.
Here is a video of me typing and the slide generating. I was able to type, unimpeded by the slide generation (which is how it should be)

It sounds like this is not what you experience. Is that right?
Yeah, absolutely not. Take what you did in that video and add about 5 minutes maybe more.
Wow, yeah thats not good at all.
We recently added a new profiler to Windows that will help us out tremendously in this situation.
If you dont mind, could you enable the profiler, reproduce the slow editing, then email us the results?
Here are the steps:
1. In Proclaim -> Settings -> General, Enable In-App Profiler.
Now, close settings. In the main app you should see this button towards the top by the help menu:
2. Go to one of your songs where you experience the slow editing.
3. Click "Start Profiling".
4. Wait while the button says "Starting profiling". It will be downloading some extra things Proclaim needs to perform the profile.
5. Once the button says "Stop Profiling", start editing the slide like you normally would. (like I was in my video)
6. After you felt you have shown the issue, click "Stop Profiling"
7. After it stops, a Windows Explorer window will open with a zip folder selected.
similar to this screen shot
8. Email this file to ProclaimDev@faithlife.com
This will help a lot as we will be able to see what parts are slow on your machine and how we can fix it. Thanks Bob.
OK, mission accomplished. And, for the record, I probably exaggerated about five minutes, but still slow, nonetheless. It is even slower on our church computer. Hope this helps, both you all and us!
FYI, I still have not tried this w/o an internet connection. Is there any point in trying that?
Thanks, I just got the email. I'll start investigating.
I'd say no. I dont think it will help.
