Problem with Proclaim handing off control to PowerPoint

This is with Proclaim 2.6 on Windows 10.

I was importing a PowerPoint presentation into Proclaim yesterday and set it to transfer control to PowerPoint as it contained some builds. I noticed that sometimes it worked perfectly but other times one of two different things happened:

Builds didn't build. It wasn't that they all appeared on the screen at the same time but that they never appeared at all
Sometimes the presentation skipped some slides

It wasn't totally reproducible but there was a problem more frequently than there wasn't.

I created a simple PPT file to test this - the second slide has some builds and the third has some animations - and this shows the same behaviour.

The test file I am using is below:

Any thoughts on what is happening here?

Hello Graham,

I think the reason this is sometimes reproducible and sometimes not is that both Proclaim and PowerPoint are running whenever you transfer control to PowerPoint. When you do that, the idea is that PowerPoint opens up in presentation mode and takes over. If the Proclaim screen is still at the forefront, it may skip slides and not show transitions as it is handing over that control.

See the picture I've attached below and notice how both Proclaim and PowerPoint are open at the same time. You can see that Proclaim already has Points 1, 2, and 3 up, because those animations don't exist in Proclaim.

Hello Graham,

I actually see what you're referring to now. Sometimes PowerPoint will skip the slides and just jump over the whole thing, and sometimes it works fine. We'll take a look into it, thanks!

So we've done some testing regarding the situation. If you want to reliably control the PowerPoint, you need to ensure the PowerPoint window has focus control, and use the arrow keys to navigate. Using the arrows inside of Proclaim will not influence PowerPoint.

This isn't a fix, there is still some unintended behaviour that is being worked on, but the above solution is currently the most reliable way to transfer control to PowerPoint and utilize it.
