Whitewashed Images in 10.13 High Sierra

We're receiving reports of white washed images in 10.13 High Sierra.

We believe this is caused by a bug in the way files were saved on 10.12, which causes them to display incorrectly on High Sierra. This issue would primarily affect images that were uploaded from 10.12.

For now, the workaround is to re-upload the image from a computer that displays the image correctly. Sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

Hi there,

I think I'm running into this bug. I saw this behavior months ago with our church logo image but was able to work around it in ways that I don't recall anymore so I didn't bother reporting it.

Today I just ran into the problem again using a brand new PNG image that I just exported from a newly created document in Pixelmator. I'm always running the latest macOS software, so I've been on High Sierra for months (10.13.4 at the moment). I also keep Proclaim up to date (2.8.0.0016 at the moment).

The image looked fine when I first imported it into a new Image Slideshow item. Then within a minute or two I noticed that it was washed out in the presentation. In the Media Browser it looks fine, but if I add the image to an Image Slideshow or a Content item as the background then it appears all washed out again in the presentation in Edit Mode, Preview Mode and On Air. <sigh>

Soo...it looks like this bug isn't gone yet.

Any suggestions?

We'll do some investigating. That's pretty odd, I was able to pull in the image on my Macbook and it appears fine, and without the washed out effect. How did you go about adding the image in Proclaim?

Hi Justin,

I first added it by adding an Image Slideshow item and using the Import method of adding an image to the slideshow.

I've also tried creating a Content item and adding the previously imported image as the item background.

I just tried creating a new Presentation because we don't do that very often and when I added an Image Slideshow item and added the image from the Media Browser I got the same washed out look.

This problem doesn't affect 99% of the images we import. In fact, I think I've only seen it occur on images which contain our church logo. The logo comes from a PNG file which I add as a layer in an image I build in Pixelmator and then export to a PNG file that I use in Proclaim. Hi Justin,

Sure, I just sent them to the Proclaim Support email address.

I also sent a screen recording I just took which demonstrates an imported image changing from looking fine to the washed out version without any user intervention. It's almost as if Proclaim auto-applied an Instagram filter to make my image look terrible, just like all the cool kids do with their photos these days.
