MS Word Macro: Non-Preferred Bible Popup/Link
I posted this on another thread for a specific use. I think Whyndell has used it successfully (I have also), so I'm posting here in case others might find it useful.
It's sort of a narrow-purpose macro that takes a selected bible reference in MS Word (either CV or BCV) and the user supplies the translation name, book (if not in the selection), and optionally a verse map spec or bible datatype. The macro then produces an L4/logosres link, that when compiled will provide a popup in the specified translation, with the preferred bible rendition below it. As you would expect, the link opens/displays the specified translation. The macro remembers the last bible/book/verse map used, is easily navigated with Tab, Enter, and Esc, and if a shortcut key is assigned, the workflow should be fairly fast when doing a lot of work with one translation/book.
I envision three principal uses:
- The case above, where one needs a popup or link to a non-preferred bible.
- A link needs to be made with an implied book, that is, the text has only chapter:verse; the Personal Book compiler wouldn't interpret it as it would a full BCV.
- A quotation, paraphrase, or allusion to bible text that isn't accompanied by a citation could be quickly linked.
There is a setup process needed to make all this work smoothly, but the document explains it all (in agonizing detail). I wrote this in MS Word 2016, but I expect it will also work in 13, 10, and 07. I don't think there are Windows-specified objects, etc., so I'm guessing it works on Macs, but I don't have a Mac, so those users will have to translate the Windows setup instructions.
The document linked below has the instructions and the macro / user form included.
