Vyrso is becoming Faithlife Ebooks

Here's a workaround I developed (for Mac Users) to search multiple Faithlife sites simultaneously: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/158746.aspx

I got this off the forums a while ago but for PC I make a bookmark and paste this in the URL spot
javascript:void(q=prompt('Logos/Noet/EbooksNoet/Vyrso%20Multi-Search:',getSelection()));if(q)%20%7B%20location.href='https://logos.com/products/search?q=' + escape(q) + '&unlocked=no'; window.open('https://ebooks.noet.com/search?query=' + escape(q) + '&unlocked=no'); window.open('https://noet.com/search?query=' + escape(q) + '&unlocked=no'); window.open('https://vyrso.com/products/search?q=' + escape(q) + '&unlocked=no'); }

I would, also. I think a search on the Logos web site should give the option to search Vyrso (E-books).
One of the best ideas I've heard in a long time. AND it would likely generate extra sales for FL. Just think about how many people probably give up after a Logos.com search, without knowing their desired product could be/is available on Vyrso.

In both FL's site + Vyrso, I am forever changing show to 60. It should always be 60. Or 100, etc.

For my part, I would appreciate an easy way to screen all fiction out of my searches on Vyrso.

That would be good. However, for such filter to work properly, the individual resources need to be tagged as fiction accordingly.
But maybe this has been messed up by the publishers... There are only a few, but notable, cases of mis-labelling.

Are you sure that book is mis-labelled?

Thanks for the encouragement! We're excited to be bringing more life into the Vyrso universe. As of now, Noet Ebooks won't be getting any modifications. For the Vyrso API, I'll have to look into that with someone from our production team and get back to you. Thanks!Jan Krohn said:This sounds really awesome. I'm excited! Vyrso... er Faithlife Ebooks is headed for growth!
If there's going to be a major update to the Vyrso API as well, I'd really appreciate to know about this a couple of days ahead of time, so that I can adapt my autodiscovery scripts for eBook freebies and ebook deals. There are a couple of hundred recipients to whom the scripts send out messages, and who don't want to miss any free books :-)
Is Noet Ebooks going to be revamped as well?
As a subscriber to Jan's unofficial site, I concur that his site is a great way to drive traffic to the Faithlife eBooks store!!

Hi Jan,
Just so you know, I haven't forgotten about this request. I'm still looking for a good answer for you on this, and I'll let you know as soon as I've heard something from our developers. Thanks for your patience!

Thanks so much Natalie. So is the launch happening on 1 February (tomorrow) then?
Don't worry if you can't find anything out. For a day or two I could check for deals and free books manually, while I update the scripts.

This is precisely how I do it, but would appreciate 1 search to cover all portals.
I would, also. I think a search on the Logos web site should give the option to search Vyrso (E-books). (I don't think that should be available on the Vyrso site since that might be confusing.)
I totally agree with this. Looking forward to being able to do one search only across all the sites.

I don't see any changes yet. Is there going to be a new website address?

Nothing's there yet though.

Hi!
The new site goes live later today. You'll find it at ebooks.faithlife.com. We'll be continuing to add features to it over the next few months, and I've made sure to add the suggestions from this thread to the list of potential additions.
Jan, if you can manually add deals as you figure out your scripts, that would be great. Sorry I wasn’t able to get an answer to you on those before the launch!
Enjoy the new site!

Will Vyrso auto-direct to the new site or will both be operational until you finalize the ebooks one?

It's live and they have a free book of the month promotion from Kirkdale: https://ebooks.faithlife.com/products/122911/undefended-discovering-god-when-your-guard-is-down
The &unlocked=no string doesn't seem to be working (yet) though when you search books.

Also sorting by Price (lowest first) has $ 0.00 and $ 0.99 intermixed.
Likewise cannot filter out Fiction, which could be done on Vyrso using:
-GenreGroup:*Fiction

It looks like auto-direct is already in place.

Great job! The new page looks good. And Faithlife Ebooks brand tells much more than the old Vyrso.

I just tried the site and the search engine seems to be less helpful than when it was Vyrso. I got a lot unwanted resources when searching on the names of various authors that were filtered out with Vyrso. Disappointing.

The "new" Faithlife Ebooks site is just a rebranded "Noet Ebooks" site that they have been using for some time now.
And yes, the search is inferior. Try searching for something in quotes, for instance, and you'll see that it doesn't respect the quotes. "John Piper" will give you three Piper titles and then starts with other authors, e.g., Adelaide Piper and John by Beth Moore.
Also, as already has been noted, there's no longer any way to filter out the books you already own.
It's disappointing that Faithlife didn't get this stuff working before they put this site up, especially since they were already using the same engine over at Noet Ebooks. I hope that they quickly fix these things.

Yes, the former vyrso site was much easier to search; hope to see improvement soon.

Who's clever enough to make this search for books on sale exclude fiction?

Thanks so much for all of your feedback! We are aware of the limitations of searching on the new site, and we are working to improve it. I've been taking down all of the feedback from this post and others, and I'll pass it along to our developers. Thanks for all the feedback on the site!

Paul, see this thread for an answer to exclude fiction (great workaround, I didn't know this was possible with the new site!), then sort by savings.

Why? What does it get us? What is the purpose of the name change - a marketing thing?
What does it provide the user? Will the books have the same search capabilities as Logos? If not will the pricing be more competitive? For example:
Union with Christ: The Way to Know and Enjoy God
by Rankin Wilbourne and John Ortberg
Amazon $ 9.99
Faithlife Ebook $ 19.99
I don't understand the reason for the change?
