If you open a guide using the menu and then put in the reference you want, eg. John 3:17, it will create the guide for that reference .
However, using the switch panes, the guide label is the default reference, in my car, John 1:1. If you go to another pane, get out of the app and go back in, when you return to that guide, it now used the default verse, John 1:1 instead of the reference you chose

Entered John 3:17 as the passage, and guide was produced:
Viewed one of the commentaries.
Went out of the app to check email.
Came back to the app, went back to the guide, and now it is back to the default reference:
I have noticed this behavior for a while, and it happens with the Passage Guide and Exegetical Guide.
This is not the case if you use the resource menu (right side menue when in a bible) to open a passage Guide from your current text .
