I’m just stupefied to see that people chose IVPNTC over the REC. I don’t know if they realize that REC means Reformed Expository Commentary. Wow! Overall, the rest seem to be doing good. I just hope people don’t choose Calvin over WBC or Black’s over NICOT/NT.
Remember this is our opportunity to get those expensive commentary sets deep discounted, as they don’t go on sale very often; especially NICOT/NT.

DAL, I admit that, in one of the match-ups in Round 2--not one that you listed--I picked the less expensive set not because I wouldn't like to own the more expensive one, but because I wouldn't buy it even at 60% off, whereas the cheaper one....

IVPNTC over REC was definitely surprising. Kinda bummed.

I agree...this one was very disappointing.
For me, my main goal for the first round was to get the remaining volumes in the Welwyn Commentary, Evangelical Press Study Commentary, and the Two Horizons Commentary (the 17 vol. version was available on Logos with dynamic pricing on Day 1 of Round 1). My dynamic pricing for these three sets on March 1st was as follows:
1. Welwyn: $43.06
2. EP Commentary: $72.95
3. Two Horizons (17 vol.): $70.09
Total: $186.10
Today, after the MM discounts (and considering that Faithlife stopped selling the 17 vol. Two Horizon's set within the past two days), the pricing today breaks down as follows:
1. Welwyn: $35.95
2. EP Commentary: $72.95
3. Two Horizons (three missing individual vols since FL pulled the 17 vol. version from sale within the past 2 day): $80.97
Total: $189.87
So the bottom line is that waiting for Round 1 is more expensive than if I'd just jumped on my dynamic pricing two days ago. So for now I'm just going to pick up my missing Welwyn volumes. Disappointing result.

My dynamic pricing is $116 and change for REC. Too bad Logos pulled the complete set and only offers the 20 Volume version. I‘ll wait for the competition to be over to build my prioritized wish list and I’ll buy based on that and budget of course 👍😁👌

Publisher 40 % off sale this month includes P&R Biblical Studies Bundle that has 20 REC Volumes => Reformed Expository Commentary

Round 1 deals are 35 % off so P & R Publisher sale is better.

For a few bucks it really isn't worth my time. [:)] I'd consider it if the pricing overall would have been 10%-15% cheaper, but it's really not shaping up to be much of a savings. Even the Bible Speaks Today dynamic pricing is significantly worse than the sale FL just ran for it last month. That's how it is sometimes...I still appreciate the new format however and hope some folks end up with some really good deals.

True, but IVPNTC has been in Logos for so much longer that you'd assume that more people would have gone for REC. IVPNTC was part of my very first order back in 2006...I still have the disk around here somewhere.

I was going say something similar. Besides, IVPNTC is included in 4 base packages (SDA Gold, Methodist/Wesleyan Gold, Baptist Portfolio and Collector).
Anyway, hopefully the other top 3 Commentaries will make it. My prediction is NICOT/NT champion and WBC 2nd place, but I won’t be holding my breath on those either.

If I'm not mistaken, NICOT/NT and WBC meet in the quarterfinals (the division one finals). I was surprised these two weren't on opposite sides of the bracket, but there only seems to be light seeding to avoid really early matchups of favorites.

This "Why do people vote the way they do?" question reminded me of an issue that came up recently (again) in government, when a politician called certain other supporters "stupid." (I hope our March Madness won't turn into a critique of others' choices.)
P.S. Some of us have only been a Logos customer for a year or so. Happy that you have owned it for so long!

I also expect the NICOT/NT and WBC to go far. However, I also imagine that a lot already own them. I bought the NICOT/NT when it was released in Logos and the WBC before that, but I hope those who want it get a good deal. So it all depends on who votes.

I certainly don’t see from any prior postings that such insults are intended. However, should that occur, I can faithfully say that the other members here (let alone Faithlife) would quickly quash any such inimicality.

PetahChristian for being a member for just one year or so you post a lot. I looked at your post count and mine, and you’re almost half way catching up to me and I’ve been posting since 2008. Almost 5k in 10 years for me. At your rate you’ll probably be over 20k posts in 10 years. Are you sure you’re not becoming addicted to forum posting? It can happen 😁

You are correct Erik. No insults or bad criticism have been launched. But to be honest, PetahChristian has proven to be a little sensitive in the forums with MVP’s posts and any other post he perceives to be negative, even if it’s not. Then again, everybody is different and this fact is what makes the forums a cool place to hang out! 👍😁👌

Send Todd Cullop (Todd.Cullop at faithlife) an email. I don't know if he can help, but if he can he will. Bonus: he responds quickly when I send him an email, and I've seen him respond outside of what I would imagine are normal work hours. Any way, its worth an email. He might be able to help. Losing three titles, and your cost going up 3 dollars is ridiculous.Erik said:pk47 said:IVPNTC over REC was definitely surprising. Kinda bummed.

Ok that is good to know. I emailed Todd yesterday to check. Could you recommend another rep?

Yes, it is silly to suppose that someone is saying they rate one work as superior to another by their March Madness votes. Voting all depends upon what one already owns. One hardly plans to buy something a second time, no matter how good it is.Gordon Jones said:

Many of us already own NICOT/NICNT, WBC, and others in this competition. I intend to vote on the commentaries based on the value of the content as if I didn't own any of them. This is in deference to those Logos users who have not acquired them, yet.
