Resource Information - Search Fields - Surface & Footnote ???
In the Resource Information screen there's information about search fields.
What is that? And what is the difference of Surface and Footnote in that?
Thanks in advance.

Chris,
At least in V3 it denoted the searchable fields!
If you wanted to find something and limit it to either results found in footnotes or found in the text itself, then you'd use the search operators (and I'm not sure of the syntax) something like:
surface:Jesus
or
footnote:Jesus
or bible:Jesus ANDNOT footnote:Jesus
that way your search doesn't get a huge amount of unwanted hits.
Someone else can polish up or correct my explanation if need be.

In most English resources, even Reverse Interlinear bibles, it makes no difference if you search Jesus or surface:Jesus (but surface:Jesus stops you getting results in footnotes!). If you search most Greek bibles for surface:Gkword it prevents you getting Gkword as a lemma.

Dave,
Just to clarify..."but not in V4"

What I said applies to v4, but I've not conducted an extensive study e.g.
I type
surface:ἀδελφὸς
into Bible Search, and it was completed as
surface:([lang el] ἀδελφὸς)
The result was much different (as expected) to a Context menu Lemma search
<Lemma = lbs/el/ἀδελφός>
The Basic Search
122 NOTEQUALS footnote:122
works for NET bible, but doesn't display verses numbered 122 unlike v3 when we discussed this!

Oh...it does work...nice.
Do the marks have to be correct for it to work? I'm horrible at getting all of the breathing marks and such right....
