Bibles gone on Libronix

I've got an old Windows XP machine that has had Libronix on it for more than 10 years. It got bogged down with unused software, and so we decided to restore to original configuration, and reinstall our software we wanted.

Using my old discs, and then manually installing the upgrade from the Logos website to 3g, Libronix installed fine, and after putting in my license key, most of my library is there and accessible. However, the only English translation of the Bible available is the old American Standard. As far as I can tell from memory, those are the only resources that are gone. From my first use of Logos, I've had a bunch of English translations, including NAS, NIV, and the ESV, when it came out. I don't even have the KJV now.

Perhaps the most strange thing about it is, none of the English Bible versions exist even in the "My Library" window under "All Known Resources."

Any ideas as to why this is happening, and how I might correct it?

By the way, I do realize that I can update my version of Logos like I have on my other computer. However, Libronix fits my needs just fine on this machine, and newer versions would certainly slow it to point of being unusable.

Since not showing in All Known:

- I assume you're installing to default. It didn't put the resources on another drive? I've done that.

- Go into the CDs and copy them over? If need file names? I've sometimes used Location Manager (Tools > Lib Mgmt) to do this.

I doubt it's a license issue, but check Account Summary which show unlocks (again, Tools > Lib Mgmt)

Sometimes I've solved by the order of CDs (newest last). True.

Hmmmm. Thank you, Denise. I'm sure you've gotten me on the right track. The Bibles are not in my "resources" folder. I'm now wondering if the installation disc doesn't have have the Bibles on it - I'll check on that.

I'm wondering if I could fire up my old machine in the basement, and just copy the resources folder over to this computer. I'm sure I wouldn't have the ESV, (and perhaps a few other resources) on disc. If it worked, copying the resources folder would cover all those issues.

Since, the license server has been taken down, no guarantee that it works, but it should be worth a try. You need:

the license backup file
the content of the resources folder.

Then follow these steps:

Copy the license backup file and the resource folder to the new computer
Import the license backup file
There should be a tool called "locations manager" or something similar on Libronix. Add the location that contains the resource folder backup.
Libronix should now copy the contents to its own resource folder, and register the resources within the application properly

I do understand that Libronix is no longer supported, so any automated help or downloading of files or licenses is not an option. I should have made it more clear in my first post that I did import my most current license backup, and I did download all unlocked books from my various (really old) Libronix CDs with the "Location Manager." What I didn't figure is that the English Bibles would not be on any of my general discs. Didn't think about just importing the Resources file until Denise's response. Going to give that a go tonight.

However, they're definitely in your old resources folder. Use the Location Manager to import them from the backup.

I know LIbronix has its diehard adoring fans...

But why not take the free engine only upgrade to 7? or 7 Basic (also free but with some resources)?

You shouldn't lose any resources, AND you get the new, less clunky (in my opinion), friendlier version of Logos (libronix made me leave logos for a while... I really dont like it).

I'm not sure how adoring I was, but Libronix has been the most effortless Logos tool for the way I've studied passages. On my main computer, I HAVE moved on to the modern form of Logos, but I haven't bought the upgrades or crossgrades, so the process has gotten a bit more tedious, but I've adapted.

The biggest problem with newer versions is that they require more and more resources, and include more and more things that I don't want or need. It has become [bloatware in a significant way for me.

And, most significantly, my second computer is 10 years old, and still has XP. I don't use it very often, but when I do, I need Logos on it. The newer versions take up WAY too many resources to work on it.

By the way, this is one of my major complaints with Logos. Over the years, I recommended Logos to dozens of pastors, missionaries, and lay-people. I trained nearly as many on how to effectively use it. Now, most of the ministry people I know can't afford or justify Logos packages that have the resources they need, and even if they did, they can't afford to keep buying new computers to run the newer versions of Logos. And, many of our missionaries don't have stable internet, which newer versions really need...

Anyway, this is why I don't upgrade this particular computer to a newer version.

We're up and running.
