Logos App is running in the background but won't run in the foreground therefore can't access resour

2818.nlog.config.zipWhen I try to run Logos, the light under the icon is on, the links are available in the tool bar, but I can not access my resources and the home page does not appear. It is as if the software is running in the background but not the foreground. Help...this is very frustrating. After you click on the Logos 4 icon in the Dock does it say Logos 4 next to the Apple in the top-left-hand corner? If so can you click on Go>Home and tell us what happens?

When I click Go>Home, nothing happens. No home page, no resources, nothing. But the icon has the light lit under it and the Logos 4 links are showing next to the apple.

I have put this post in 3 days ago and still have NO resources. I REALLY would like a fix so that I can have my resources back. I just upgraded to Platinum and I don't feel like I am getting my money's worth.

Can you try closing Logos4 and deleting /Users/jonathansmith/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Documents/wrbkmweq.ncv/SelfTests/SelfTests.db and then restarting?

I am experiencing the exact same thing on my MBP. I tried what you suggested to Jonathan and I believe it worked the first time, but no longer works.
I would appreciate any other suggestions, as Jonathan testified, it is pretty frustrating.

To help Tom (and Logos development team), please post logs.
Directions to delete file(s) and/or run command(s) is based on information in posted log files and console messages.
Forum http://community.logos.com/forums/t/6731.aspx has tutorial for posting logs. Few days ago, learned from Tom that Alpha 18 and newer releases have logging enabled, hence step 1 configuration not needed.

You seem to have either a corrupted database or a disk problem based on this statement in your logs multiple times:

It looks like your ResourceManager.db might be corrupt. That file is located at: /Users/Vito/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/hagbd0v1.0j6/ResourceManager/ResourceManager.db
Could you upload this file so we could take a look at it?

The file you uploaded is 74 bytes which is a bit of a problem. Can you rename "ResourceManager.db" to "ResourceManager.db.corrupt" and restart Logos 4?

Can you try deleting your StudyDocument.db and restarting?

Here you go Tommy. When I double click the L4 application , it proceeds to "Sign in" then disappears as if I never attempted to open the program.

I had the same problem as the op. I tried all the things suggested to no avail. I finally went in under Users and Logos 4 and deleted everything. when that didn't work, I deleted the app, not the resources. I then redownloaded A19.1. When it started to download my resources I canceled it. Then after about 20 minutes it began to index. After a full re-index it is working great.
BTW, I think the whole thing was my fault, when I orginally downloaded A19 it kept freezing due to indexing so I force quit a couple of times. Then A19.1 fixed it or so I thought but then it quit working as well.
This may or may not be helpful, just wanted to let you guys know that deleting the app and starting over works, prob already knew that though.

What is A20? Where do I get it? and if it's an update, can it update if the the program won't load?
I reinstalled my OS and started fresh. I tried loading L4 again and the same thing is happening... 'Signing in' then 'Loading resources' then crashes.

A20 is the latest Alpha version of the program.
You can find a link to it in the first post on this forum.
If you download and install it it will replace the existing version of the program.
You do not need to be running the program to download and install a new version.
Re-installing the OS rarely improves matters - OSX and Windows are not the same and neither are the cures for problems on a Mac most of the programs are effectively isolated from the OS.

You seem to have some kind of systemic corruption of many of your document databases. I wonder if letting them all be recreated and resync'd with the server will fix the problem.

Logos icon will bounce in the doc, then a message that it 'quit unexpectedly' with options to ignore, report, or reopen.

In going over your crash reports, it looks like a crash loading a dynamically linked library needed by Logos 4, although I can't tell which one. Have you tried just removing the Logos Bible Software 4.app from /Applications, re-downloading and re-installing?

Numerous times. I even back-up all my data, did a clean reinstalled of the os, then re-installsed LBS4. It opened once, then crashes each time since.

OK, Tom,
I removed the program and deleted everything that said 'LOGOS' (that I could find), and did a re-install again. It seems to be working fine, but indexing is taking hours and has yet to finish. Is this normal for the initial startup?

Yes, the initial indexing will consume a number of hours to complete.

OK, Well.
When I initiated the indexing it originally said 3 hours, then 4. After letting it set for about 2 hours it came back saying 12 hours, then couple minutes later 13 hours. It just keeps increasing. this normal too?
The library opens and seems to function, however the MBP is running hot enough to fry an egg. I fear letting it run too long attempting to index if it's not indexing.

Make sure that your hard disk is not going into hibernation when you are away. This will pause indexing.
A utility like Caffeine will make sure your computer does not sleep

Ultimately, it wont take anywhere near 23 hours to index (something under 5 depending on the size of your library).

Close any applications you don't need to free up as much memory as possible. Indexing needs about 1 GB of RAM while it's running. If you run low on free RAM while it's indexing it can really increase to indexing time.0 -
Everything has been shut down, for the most part. Now at 44 hours remaining. How long should I wait before I realize it's not working? Or how do I know if it is?

You can use Activity Monitor to see if your CPU is working hard while indexing. You can use Console to view the Indexer.log. Sometimes the indexer appears to pause when Logos 4 is shutdown, but I haven't yet detemined the cause. If it appears that nothing is happening in the CPU in Activity Monitor try starting Logos4 again.

I restarted. The indexer begins without me opening LBS. The Activity monitor is showing the indexer working hard and using about 500m memory. Started at 47 minutes remaining, now up to 9 hours. Waiting it out.
