BUG: Verse Links in Sermons Not Clickable (Desktop, OSX)

Bug in Sermon Editor 7 (Desktop, OSX): Attached is a image of a sermon where I have verses listed, they turn blue like they are links, but I can't click them to open in my preferred Bible. They are like dead links. It's been like this for a while, but it's finally starting to get to me! Tongue Tied

It is this way in Windows as well.

I suspect it was supposed to make it stand out so you can add it to a slide by right clicking, but I would like to see it become a hotspot too.

Right! I know what if I hit "enter" after the verse it will create a slide. But, I often use my sermons to hold the backup verses without actually showing the verse in a slide. It's nice to be able to hover over those or click them to review them.

The situation is even worse in iOS. There everything is "as dead as a door nail" except for the "key verses" in the Sermon info.

If you hold down CMD on Mac and CTRL on Windows and then click it should open your preferred Bible on Desktop.

So, do you not think that the Sermons should be clickable right away on Desktop? Is that a limitation with the Desktop software? It seems to work just be clicking on the Web App.

Hi Andrew,

I'm not sure the exact reason why it was implemented that way. The developer who worked on that feature the most is currently out the office this week. I've asked him to respond when he returns.

It's the same in the note editor, I think. The idea is probably the same as in Microsoft Word, where you also have to use Ctrl-click to open links. There, I would think, the reason is to prevent you from accidentally opening links, when you are just trying to edit the text.

Bernhard is correct it is so that you don't trigger the link when you are trying to edit the text. This is standard for most word processors.

Also, if you click on "Text" at the top of the Sermon Editor, all the links will work without using Ctrl+click.
