For instance, Zondervan Illustrated Bible Backgrounds used to be available as a full set with al volumes both OT and NT. That is no longer available. The full OT set is by itself buy vol 2 (of a 4 volumes) from the NT set can no longer be purchased.

The assumption being that somehow Logos lost the license. So, if someone bought that book or the entire series years ago before vol 2 disappeared would they still be able to download it say in the case where they do a new install on a new computer?

This seems like a very big problem if you could no longer access and download it...

The publisher retracted Vol 2 due to academic reasons (some not-fully-attributed material contained in Koestenberger's commentary on John).

Yes, even though users can't buy it anymore, it will still download to users who own a valid license.

My understanding, from what Logos has stated and from experience, is that the answer to that is "Yes." I believe this is part of the agreement Logos has with publishers when a resource first becomes available. It has also been my experience (and that of others) when this has happened in the Logos environment. One prime example of this is the 1984 NIV. For those who purchased it before Biblica decided that only the 2011 NIV could be purchased from now on (beginning what year, I'm not sure), we still have full access to that resource. In fact, it was even updated recently with full reverse interlinear capability for the O.T.!

However, there may be (and may have been) some exceptions to this rule. Even in those cases, if you had a copy of your resource from your previous computer, you would be able to copy it to the appropriate folder and find that it would work (since your license continues for life).

Yes that helps a lot, thank you. I know that with some resources with many pics there are times where pics are missing due to licensing but the fear of resource being yank away was worrisome.

Im just a civilian (lay guy) who is considering buy one of the heavily discounted commentary sets and wanted to be sure I’m safe.
