keyboard controls problems

Arrow keys switch between controlling slide advance to controlling the "timeline" scroll based on the last thing that was selected with the mouse. This is problematic when running live; failure to advance slide when needed

so i switched to using the space bar...which failed to advance the slides on seemingly random occasions.

After leaving "edit" and entering "preview" the space bar gets reassigned (previously it worked to advance slides) to act as a shortcut to send user right back into "edit". At this point the arrow keys do work for advancing slides.

Further testing and the space bar also occasionally functions to fire the first slide in the script.

HOWEVER: clicking in different sections with the mouse reassigns the keys to different functions, and screws up the keyboard controls.

Hello Abby,

There are different areas of the program, where you can focus too and thus changes the effect of certain keystrokes. You could try using your mouse to use the interface arrows in the program, at least initially after making any edits, to refocus the program to the slide advancement.

I think that when in Preview mode and/or on Air the arrow keys should be reserved for advance (and retreat) of slides. There is little more important when the slides are actually in use.

Justin, your post sounds more like a workaround than a true solution. Up until recently, the arrow keys did not lose their function when clicking around the slides area. As of this post, clicking in any of the slide areas (sidebar or bottom area) removes focus and disables the arrow keys from transitioning slides. This is a problem that has caused issues during a service, especially during a song where timing is essential.

I agree with Mike that the arrow keys should be reserved while in Preview, especially while On Air. At the very least, there needs to be an option in Settings that locks the arrow keys to slide transition while On Air or in Preview mode.
