And Logos needs to get it, Link
Absolutely! I mentioned it on an older post, but it deserves all the attention it can get.

I also added a note on a UserVoice suggestion page dedicated to his work. I really hope we can get this into Logos as soon as possible.
You've got me convinced. [Y]
I just threw 3 votes at it.

Almost available now in paper. Logos?
I am very interested in these and the new set coming out this Dec that is all 3 volumes in one set..
I have been trying to research him.. Do any of you know if he is conservative or Liberal? Does he consider the bible the very word of God or just fantasy and great writing?
This one part of an interview below concerned me where he said his translation of this word in 23rd psalm was a more reality-based translation.
Can you give an example of what you mean by “accuracy”?
In the 23rd psalm that begins “The Lord is my shepherd,” the King James translation of the concluding line reads: “I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” My translation reads: “I shall dwell in the house of the Lord for very long days.” The word “forever” is an abstraction, referring to God’s house in heaven. My translation, “for very long days,” refers to the Temple in Jerusalem. The Hebrew is more accurate, reality-based, easily understood and thus more relevant to contemporary readers and worshipers.
Alter was a Jewish professor in both English literature and Hebrew Bible at UCBerkeley. Given his religious background, I don't think you'll find any Evangelicalish statements about inerrancy or whatnot.

Please make this a priority. Would be a great addition to Logos.
It's additions like Alter that increase Logos' academic credibility (and "referrability") for those of us who spend more time with academics than pastors.
People who bought our house were associated with a tenured Ph. D. in English. We all went out socially a few times. We were discussing the Bible. He was not a Christian, but had read Alter, whom he recommended to me.
Please! [Y][Y][Y]

There seems to be little movement on Alter here, but there's a half-off plus coupon sale at Amazon, which brings the price down to about $40.
I'm now reading Alter's book on translating (Kindle), plus his narratives volume. Really quite fascinating.
And after all the forum years of panning the KJV. Highlights Logos as a slice and dice machine.
"... and I am particularly suspicious of the value of elaborate taxonomies and skeptical as to whether our understanding of narrative is really advanced by the deployment of bristling neologisms like analepsis, intradiegetic, actantial." (from his Narrative volume)
Alter's "Art" books are now on Logos! A great addition. I'm hopping they will become Logos editions at some point. Page numbering is important for my uses.
It's very frustrating to me that after all my advocating for these to come to Logos, they are not available to those of us in Canada. Big [:(]!
Oddly, The Art of Bible Translation (still in pre-pub) is available in Canada (at least it's letting me pre-order it, which might be a false sense of security; maybe I'll be denied it in the end when it is released).
Oh I just saw this... and ordered it.I think it’s met the threshold.
There seems to be another book by Alter on pre-pub:
