Searching "Footnote Text"

Hi

I saw the report at http://community.logos.com/forums/t/17017.aspx and have experienced something which may be related

If I do a search for "Footnote Text" in the ESV New Testament for "denarius" I get

  • 18 results in 16 articles when I do this as a basic search
  • 0 results when I do the same search as a Bible search

Should these return the same results?

Additionally, when I look at the results of the basic search and let my cursor hover over the footnote reference, the popup displays the text following the footnote reference as opposed to the footnote itself.

Any thoughts on the above?

Graham

    Graham,

I noticed the same thing. I was going to create another thread, but you beat me to it. Like you, I'm not sure if that should be the expected result or not. If so, then maybe if particular search fields (ex. Footnotes) cannot be searched in certain searches (ex. Bible) then those search fields should be hidden to avoid confusion.

It is related. Footnote Text should not be listed for a Bible Search because, by definition, it is searching only the Bible words. So you get zero results.

Additionally, when I look at the results of the basic search and let my cursor hover over the footnote reference, the popup displays the text following the footnote reference as opposed to the footnote itself.

This has also been reported see Search_Results_in_footnotes_not_displayed_on_hover
